Profile:
players
to compete internationally for Canada. A home grown product, son
of a former Canadian player, Barry learned his trade in the BC
leagues. Barry first played for Canada at age 16 in Toronto in a
game against a West Indies "A" team in 1989 and a year
later was selected for the 1990 ICC Trophy in Holland. Barry
justified the faith of the selectors by arguably being the best
spinner in the Tournament.
He bowls slow left-arm orthodox, using his considerable
height to flight the ball well. He varies pace and flight, and on
a helpful wicket turns the ball sharply. His greatest virtue is
his accuracy that enables him to bowl very economically in limted
overs cricket.
Barry has played in all Associates /ICC Trophy
Events since 1990 including Nairobi, Kenya in 1994 and in Malaysia
in 1997. In an effort to improve his game and to better prepare
for the Toronto ICC Trophy Barry played in Australia in 2000/01.
In the Toronto tourney he again demonstrated that he is a
top-class spinner, troubling the best batsmen in the competition
and rarely bowling a loose ball.
