The captain of the 1999 World Cup Squad, Aasif Karim has
represented Kenya in all of their 25 Official One-Day
Internationals before this WC. He made his deput for the national
side as long ago as 1980. His highest score is 53 against Zimbabwe
in 1997, and best bowling 5-33 against Bangladesh also in 1997,
the first Kenyan to take 5 wickets in an innings in Official ODI.
An insurance broker by trade he has toured Zimbabwe, UK, Holland,
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, India and Malaysia. He played
in the 1996 World Cup and in the ICC Tournaments of 1986, 1990,

wealth of experience that will stand him in good stead during the
tournament, he has captained Kenya both in cricket and the Davis
