Profile:
At just 27 years of age, Stephen Fleming has led the CLEAR
Black Caps through four testing summers and notched up series wins
against India, England, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. He is
New Zealand's most successful captain with 12 wins from 30 Tests.
In compiling this record he led his side to historic first Test
victories at the home of cricket Lord's, and The Oval. His
undemonstrative captaincy style attracted some criticism in the
one-day series last summer, but Fleming was unfazed and answered
his critics with an average of 47.50 in the six-match National
Bank series against Australia. Over 1999/2000 he was second only
to Cairns in averaging 40.84 in eight Tests.
