People to vote for change: Imran Khan ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf Imran Khan has said the people will vote for change in the forthcoming elections to transform the political system of the country. Speaking in PTV programme 'Election Hour', he said his party will endeavour to make the institutions strong and autonomous to protect the weaker sections of the society. A revolution can be brought in the social and economic conditions by giving independence to the judiciary, he said, adding, 'We have to bring reforms in government departments which are now not functioning.' He said elite class lives a lavish life, while the poor continue to suffer. It is the responsibility of the state to protect the interests of vulnerable groups, he added. Imran said tribunals should be formed after elections to look into any incident of victimisation. He said democracy is not functioning in Pakistan because of failure of state institutions. Democracy can function in the country on the strength of judiciary and by making institutions like the election and accountability commissions stronger, he said. An independent election commission is essential for a viable democracy, he added. |
