A worried Pakistani
Dear Editor,
While going through today's issue,
the 'Graffiti' section caught my attention. Though I had
to admit that it was funny (Pakistanis rock), it was a
bit sad, too, as you know Pakistanis have actually
earned the reputation of being a notorious nation
everywhere in the world. You do not realise this when
you are in Pakistan, but the minute you are out of
your country, you get the feeling that Pakistanis are
not welcome anywhere around the
world. Recently, some 12 students were arrested in
England for their involvement in suspicious activities,
and 11 of them were from Pakistan. Because of a
small group of people who have brought a bad name to us,
thousands of innocent Pakistanis are facing grave
problems.
I truly wish that things get better
for us, Pakistanis. This is a wish that can only come
true if we realise how deep this problem is and take
serious measures to eradicate it altogether from our
society.

Wow issue!
Hey Ed,
Well, just a big wow for the April
10, 2009's edition. It was simply superb from the first
page to the last one. The content of the mag was enough
to keep me glued and I couldn't skip even a single page.
Everything was so interesting. Thanks for making my
weekend! At least I didn't have to think which movie to
watch.
I really liked the cover story. The
gadgets were very funny, especially those of Meera and
Obama. They were hilarious...!!! And hats off to Sameen,
again; the websites she mentioned in 'Cyberia' were
really worth browsing. But Ed, I am really missing the
'Greetings' page. You can surely add more pages to the
mag, no? And I agree with RN's letter. The poetry page
is just a waste of paper. I know many people won't agree
with me, but please do think about eliminating the page!
Xainab, Peshawar
Hi Ed,
This week's issue was simply amazing.
'Graffiti' section was a treat. I just loved it. Genuine
work after such a long time! The cover story was quite
humorous, great job done by Waqas. The only boring thing
in the mag was the 'Heart to Heart' section; it was
just a waste of the precious paper of your already
skinny magazine. Anyhow, the mag as a whole was great.
Hats off to your team :)
Emmad Toor, Rawalpindi
Hi Ed,
I liked the issue of April 10, 2009,
especially, the 'Graffiti' section. It was great.
'Poets' Corner' is going nice, too. But Ed, why do we
see so many ads in the mag these days? Do something
about it. Other than that you guys have
been doing an awesome job.
Aimen Sohail
Dear Eddy,
Your issue of April 10 was fine. All
the writers did a really great job, but ads spoiled the
fun. They make the mag look really cheap. Kindly remove
these ads from the mag. However, Us is still the life of
Fridays and the rest of the week. The cover story was
good, but it should have included Cocker Bomb of Al
Qaeda and Lashes of Taliban.
Usman Mubashir, Quetta Cantt.
Hiya Ed,
First of all, what's with the ads,
Ed? They really stink. I'd like to thank R.T. for
answering my question and double thanks for calling me
observant. Guys, it's time that we show some respect to
Mr. Zardari. After all, he is our president. So, please
stop saying stupid things about him and Mr. Gillani
because they don't really deserve it.
Maria Nizam, Peshawar
Salam Ed,
I have been a great fan of your
magazine. The 'Graffiti' section is always awesome. The
cover story 'Celebrity Gadgets' by Waqas Hassan totally
rocked! But Ed, where is the poster page? I don't see it
anymore in the mag. Plus, why so much advertisement?
Please stop printing ads and bring back the hadith
section.
Shaheer Nasir, Murree
Hi Edy!
You guys are doing an awesome job.
The cover story 'Celebrity Gadgets' was brilliant. Ed, I
have a suggestion for your mag. I think you should hold
a poetry competition once in a while, as it will help in
increasing the readership of the mag. I wish you guys a
successful future.
Taniya Tariq, Rawalpindi
Hi Eddy,
I am a regular and diehard reader of
your magazine and I simply love it! Frankly speaking, I
don't read the whole mag every time, but I never forget
to read the cover story and 'Graffiti' sections. The
cover story of last week, 'Celebrity Gadgets' was truly
hilarious. Ed, I request you to print something about
Sidney Sheldon. And, in the end, I would like to give a
small message to the whole nation: come on, Pakistanis!
Get up and work honestly for your nation.
Ayesha Sheikh, Rawalpindi
Aslam-o-Alaikum Ed,
The last issue was great but there
were so many advertisements. I commented about it in my
last letter but I guess you did not give any
attention to it. Anyway, I want to ask that if we want
to contribute for the 'Graffiti' section, do we have to
make the jokes ourselves or can we copy them from
somewhere? Another thing: if we want to send jokes or
articles, to which e-mail address should we
send them to? The same which we use to send
our letters? Please answer my letter. Lastly, I want to
congratulate R.T. on writing such interesting and
inspiring articles that make Us better even if it is
thin.
Farheen Ayesha, Lahore
You don't have to make the jokes
yourself. But if you can do it, well and good. Send in
your contribution for the 'Graffiti' or other sections
at us.mag@thenews.com.pk.
Tidbits
Hi Ed,
I loved the article 'Just a little
sparkle' by R.T. Maleeha Ahmad did a pretty good job
with her April Fool's Day write up. Ed, please remove
the 'Poets' Corner'. It's just boring.
Humna Jadoon, Islamabad
Hello Eddy!
While reading the cover story of
April 3, 2009, I was a bit amazed. It quoted Fasi Zaka!
Indeed he is a learned man, but what happens in his show
is awful. I'm referring to the way in which innocent
callers are ridiculed, are laughed at, and suffer from
terrible things - all done in the name of fun! I
listened to his show for some weeks and I was totally
disappointed and stopped listening to it. The thing is
that when the RJs make fun of people, the people on the
similar footing try to make fun of the RJs. The cover
story was very well written and the issue raised in it
was a pertinent one. But, the role of RJs in this regard
is disappointing, too. Anyway, good work over all!

Hey Ed,
I am sending my first letter to you, so do print it.
Now the thing is, you guys are AWESOME.
In other words, incredible.
When I first read Us I
really enjoyed it. Keep the standards
high. And please do print a poster of Jonas
Brothers.
Ahmed Mamoon,
Lahore
Hi Ed,
I am a regular reader of your mag.
You guys are doing well and I hope you will keep on
doing well. It is always a pleasure to read the mag.
However, there is one thing that I don't like. You
people tend to neglect special days. For example, there
was nothing in the mag about Women's Day. Other than
that, everything is fine.
Gia Ashfaq, Skardu
Dear Ed,
I have recently started following
your magazine and it has certainly made my Fridays
brighter. You people are doing a wonderful job by
providing a platform to our youth. In what format should
I send my contribution for the back page? Secondly, can
you tell me after sending any contribution (article,
poem or artwork), how long does it take before one
should consider it rejected? I hope you'll answer my
queries. Wish you all the best for the future.
Marium Naeem
You can send a scanned copy of your
artwork. There is no time frame as such for your
contributions to be printed in the mag.
