The
iconic Bibi Russell was in Karachi from Bangladesh to showcase her
collection at Karachi Fashion Week. Bibi Russell, one of the most
popular models in the ‘70s and ‘80s was in her heyday
the face of labels like Yves Saint Laurent, Kenzo, Karl Lagerfield
and Giorgio Armani and campaigns for brands such as Rolls Royce, Jaguar,
BMW, Toyota, Vidal Sassoon, John Freida and Harvey Nichols. This designer
revolutionized fashion by her use of Bangladeshi fabric, weavers and
handicrafts in her collections - and the clothes that she sent down
the runaway at KFW left fashionistas clapping their hearts out! The
soft spoken, warm designer who is as known for her modeling years,
designer wear and humanitarian work, humbly told Instep before her
show ‘I hope you like my clothes.’ One can’t wait
to see the day she begins stocking her clothes on Pakistani shores,
and till then, we predict many a fan will be hopping across to Dhaka
to pick up her outfits and accessories! Kudos to this amazing woman
for all her accomplishments and we wholeheartedly agree with Asia
Week Magazine calling her “one of the 20 people to watch in
the millennium!” |
