An animated playlist
Cartoon films have had great soundtracks - and they become intensely
popular because of their mass appeal; with kids and adults alike.
And soundtracks for animated films have been drawing in big names
like Elton John and Counting Crows as well. This week, Instep presents
some of the best songs that have accompanied classic cartoons! |

'I Like To Move It, Move It'
OST Madagascar
This soundtrack has many fun and funky versions to it; particularly
one for kids, which is by The Party Cats and then there is the 'I
like To Move It (Eric More Clubmix)' by Reel 2 Real featuring The
Mad Stuntman. And this one really is a mad song! The soundtrack of
Madagascar, 'I like To Move It Move It' is hip and happening and makes
one want to move it! Not that the film doesn't. The humor is one of
the best works of DreamWorks.
Fast paced and modern, this track is meant to be played at parties,
pubs and even hangout places. The beat is such that it just might
even wake the dead!
This one is a must download for those who, well, like to move it!

'A
Whole New World'
OST Aladdin
Composed by Alan Menkin with lyrics done by Tim Rice, 'A Whole New
World' is more like a ballad ballad sung by the main characters of
Aladdin; Aladdin and Jasmine. The song is about the new world they're
going to discover together and is more on the romantic side, just
like many other Disney soundtracks are.
This song is one on the hitlist of the most eminent cartoon soundtracks
and revolves around Aladdin taking his ladylove on a ride on the magic
carpet. And throughout the song, he shows her the world from his eyes
and sings to her about how he wants a whole new world with her. Most
recently, Peter Andre produced another version of 'A Whole New World'
together with wife Jordan singing partner vocals for Jasmine.
Yes, cheesy. But worth a download. |

'Accidentally
In Love'
OST Shrek
The first sequel of the animated Shrek series kicks off with the headliners
Counting Crows singing away to 'Accidentally In Love' for the hugely
popular animated Shrek. A rock tune, this one is about falling in
love "accidentally" and showcased the famous Ogre munching
away and jumping up and down with excitement.
Though 'Accidentally In Love' was not part of any of the albums by
the Counting Crows, it made its way to their greatest hits collection.
The song was nominated for Best Soundtrack but did not win. The track,
however, was performed at the Academy Awards and did make waves on
the radio.
'Accidentally In Love' is a fun song, with elements of rock to it
and is one of the best songs done for an animated film's soundtrack
to date! |

'Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting'
OST Kung Fu Panda
The very catchy hit song 'Kung Fu Fighting' was re-done for the soundtrack
for Kung Fu Panda. And what a fun song it is! Originally made in 1974
by Carl Douglas, 'Kung Fu Fighting' hit the number one spot on the
Billboard Hot 100 countdown and UK singles chart. To date, this tune
is hummed by millions and fits best for Kung Fu Panda, which revolves
around an overweight Panda trying to learn karate so as to kick butt.
The classic that everyone knows about and probably has even heard
a few hundred times already was redone by Jack Black and Ceelo and
the idea of introducing the record to a brand new audience was definitely
a good one. Kick start your mood by downloading this classic gem,
reworked for the film. |

'Kiss
the Girl'
OST The Little Mermaid
This might not be the most recent of cartoons but the song 'Kiss the
Girl' has made such an impact that it is to this date played on radio
channels and requested by many listeners.
Sung by the 'Mysterious Girl' hit maker, Peter Andre, 'Kiss the Girl'
is a song about kissing a girl and how to do it!
"You've got to kiss the girl,
You wanna kiss the girl,
You've gotta kiss the girl,
Go on and kiss the girl."
Might not be the most diplomatic of songs (or the most meaningful
of lyrics) but none of artist Peter Andre's tracks are that anyway.
And yet they manage to reach the top, out of which 'All Night All
Right', 'Mysterious Girl' and 'Get Down On It' are the most heard
and still often played at cafes in Pakistan. Downloading 'Kiss the
Girl' should be on your to-do list of the week as you relive the Disney
classic The Little Mermaid. |

'Can You Feel the Love
Tonight'
OST The Lion King
The soundtrack of The Lion King, 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight'
is the softest of the tracks in this list of downloads. And as surprising
as this sounds, it's much more catchy too, even though it's on the
smooth side.
'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' is a romantic song about falling
in love for the very first time. Samba (the lead of The Lion King)
romances with the object of his affection while this song plays
in the background.
Elton John is known for his downy songs, out of which 'Sorry Seems
To Be the Hardest Word' was a major hit. He was then heard in 'Ghetto
Gospel' that topped the Billboard charts at the time of release.
'Can You Feel the Love' is meant for the all the romantics out there
and could be considered the best song for Valentine's Day!
