Dear Editor

Offended reader

Hello Ed,

I'd like to compliment you on your brilliant magazine. Us is one thing that I look forward to throughout the week. It is funny (the Graffiti section), interesting (cover stories) and juicy (Guru's letters!). However, I was really offended by the cover story 'New loonies'. Whoever wrote it was very rude and hurt the feelings of all the Twilight fans. I would appreciate it if hurtful things like that dumb story were not printed again. Other than that your magazine is great! Keep it up, Ed! All the best!

Mahnoor Durrani, Peshawar

Welcome, new reader!

Dear Ed,

I was totally unaware of Us mag's existence, but a small booklet kind of thing hidden inside Friday's newspaper caught my attention and I decided to go through it. I'm glad that I did it. I really liked the content of Us mag. The articles by young writers show that there is no dearth of talent in our country. Though I found the whole mag totally awesome, one thing that inspired me a lot was the article about eunuchs. It was very a thought-provoking article and I believe talking about such issues helps in creating awareness among the people. I hope to see more good articles in Us in future.

Hammad Khan, Abbottabad

Thanks for the poster page!

Hey Eddster!

I just wanted to appreciate you guys for bringing back the poster page. I think 'Graffiti' (December 11, 2009) rocked again this time and I also liked the story by Ali Suleman. I liked 'Ripley's believe it or not', too and I have one fact to share with you which is absolutely true! When hippos get angry, their sweat turns red. Amazing, isn't it? Ed, please print a poster of Justin Beiber! I have been reading Us for a long time now and have always remained faithful to it. Please print the poster so that I could love your mag even more.

Comments and requests

Hey Ed,

I really like Us. It makes my Fridays interesting. The issue of December 11, 2009 was great, especially the cover story 'The Paradox Salad'. Could you please print a poster of Robert Pattinson?

Mishal Zia, Rawalpindi

AoA Ed,

I loved the issue of December 4, 2009. The cover story was awesome and very inspiring. In these times, people should help Pakistan to get back on its feet instead of running away to other countries.

I do not agree with a letter that said that you should remove the 'Poets' Corner'. I believe the page helps in displaying the work of youngsters and they look forward to their work being admired by everyone. It actually motivates them. I also want to say that Luavut Zahid did a great job with the cover story 'Animal talkies', however, the article 'New loonies' was disappointing. Everything else is great and Us is going fab! =)

Mahnoor Naeem

Salam Ed!

This is my first letter to your mag so please don't make it my last letter by not publishing it. I just want to say that your team is doing a great job. The cover story of December 11 was awesome. Hats off to M. Awais Aftab!

Keep up the good work.

Fatemah Shahbaz, Rawalpindi

Respected Editor,

I was going through your magazine after a long time and was thinking how to become a part of the Us family again, when suddenly the write-up by Anam Javed caught my attention, and compelled me to write down something. The writer is true in her views, indeed she is! In my childhood, that's exactly what happened to me; all I remember is reading (not reciting) the Quran like a parrot, moving my head back and forth, and still being beaten by the Moulvi sahab. But now I recite Quran and I know what I am reading. Breaking this Book's code, has solution to not just our problems, but also has the healing and practical ending to all the human suffering that exists today.

Raqim Haque

Dear Ed!

I read the issue of December 4, 2009 with fondness. The cover story was really admirable. I truly appreciate the efforts of the writers who wrote about Greg Mortenson. After reading about Mortenson's love for the mankind, I felt thankful to him, and every Pakistani should. His deeds are praiseworthy and it's very important for us to know about such people. I suggest that you keep on printing articles about such people who spend their lives in cherishing humanitarian goals. I am sure you won't let me down by turning down my first ever letter written to a mag.

Zia ul Islam, Malakand

Salam Ed!

I am a school teacher and I read your marvelous mag every Friday. I used to be a silent reader of Us, but the issue of December 4 forced me to write to you.

It was amazing because of the poem 'Cold Night' by Ali Suleman. The webpage (www.omgpop.com) mentioned in the 'Cyberia' section was great. I appreciate your work and I wish your mag all the best for the future. Last but not the least, I request you to increase the number of pages. It's my first letter to any magazine so do publish it. Your magazine really rock!

Amber Khan, Muzaffarabad

Dear Ed,

I am a regular reader of Us. It's an interesting and informative magazine. I really like the regular pages like 'Graffiti', cover story, 'Cyberia' and 'Trust Us'. I love to read famous quotes very much, so it would be very nice of you if you print quotes by famous people every week. Also, 'Cyberia' gives us lots of useful info about interesting and instructive websites. It really increases our knowledge about the Internet.

The article, 'An Ounce of Sympathy' by Saba Fatima Ali (December, 4) was very good. In short, Us is doing a great job.

Nowsher Khan, Nowshera

Hi Eddi,

It has been quite a while since I wrote to your magazine. The issue of December 04, 2009 was awesome! The cover story was the reason that I decided to write to you again. The cover story gave me an insight into the humanitarian act carried out by foreigners in our country. Saba Ali's article was well-written and a thought-provoker. Hats off to her! Although the story 'Welcome home' was short, it had a deep message. The poem by Ali Suleiman was fabulous. The 'Graffiti' section was as usual great!

But one thing that I disliked was the constant request by some people to stop 'The Green Room'. Guys, who wouldn't want to know what celebrities are tweeting about or about the upcoming albums and movies? In the end I would like to request the readers to stop saying that Us has lost its charm!

Abdul Wasay

Assalam Alaikum Editor,

The issue of December 4 was great! Now that I am done with my exams, I would like to praise your entire team for the marvelous work they put up every time a new issue is printed.

Anyway, due to the present situation of the country I want to request you to publish stories and article about the victims of terrorism.

Maryam bint-e Humayun, Quetta Cantt.

Hi Editor,

The 'Graffiti' section published in the issue of December 4 was hilarious. Previously, I had the misconception that Us magazine was for kids, but now I read it on a regular basis. Well done.  Keep up the good work.

Khalid Hyder, Rawalpindi

Any competition coming up?

Hey Editor,

Your magazine is fantabulous! I really want to know if you are holding another story writing competition. If so, please update us about it. Also, please conduct a poll between the singer Bilal Khan and some other singer in 'The Green Room' page. Looking forward to see our names in Us!

Zara and Faryal Wali Khan, Rawalpindi
