Shahrukh
turns KBC around
|
|
"Lock" is out, "Freeze" is in, according to King
Khan who replaces Amitabh in what can be termed as the biggest game
show in India. It is no easy task but Shahrukh Khan has proven, yet
again that he can beat anyone at almost anything. Shahrukh's Kaun
Banega Crorepati is relaxed and very chilled out. Unlike the old KBC
where contestants were usually in awe of Amitabh, this time around
it's wit and adoration that takes over reverence. At the opening episode
of the show, Shahrukh jokingly said that this is perhaps the first
time in the history of such a show that the contestant is the same
but the host has changed. He said that people asked him what kind
of coats would he wear? Would it be with a three-piece or a different
style? Shahrukh answered by saying, "I'll wear a petticoat if
you want me to." KBC 3 is catering to a whole new generation,
especially youngsters. With SRK on the hot seat, |
|
it's
raking in more viewer ship than KBC 2, whose ratings had dropped significantly.
All those who haven't seen the show, do tune in to the camouflaged
channels put up by your cable guys. Shahrukh is at his comical and
entertaining best, even as he is himself. Reality TV just doesn't
get better! |

Abhiwarya
to wed in a Jaipur palace |
|
Fixated fans who can't
wait to read updates on the star couple everyday needn't be apprehensive
that the hype will fade out after their engagement. Quite on the contrary,
things will continue to heat up as the wedding day gets closer. Latest
reports reveal that Amitabh Bachchan is seriously considering one
of the palaces of Jaipur as the perfect wedding venue. The marriage
reception may take place in either Jodhpur's Umaid Bhawan Palace or
Jaipur's Royal palace. Approximately 200 guests are believed to be
invited for the reception. "Bachchans are very close to the royal
family of Jaipur. So they might organize it at City Palace, Jaipur,"
said a source. And while they plan a reception fit for a queen, top
European tourism boards have been scampering to get the duo to spend
their honeymoon at enviable destinations in Europe. The French |
|
and
Swiss tourism boards, along with the 25-country rail consortium RailEurope,
have made informal announcements through the media that they would
love to sponsor the two stars' post-wedding holiday. Doesn't that
sound peachy perfect? Our only fear is, that knowing Ash and the Bachchans,
the newly weds may just decide to perform another puja in Varanasi
instead. |

Johnny
Depp to be Mira Nair's Shantaram |
|
Warner
Bros has roped in award winning director Mira Nair for the film-adaptation
of Gregory David Roberts' novel Shantaram, story of an Australian
heroin addict who escapes from a maximum-security prison and reinvents
himself as a doctor treating the destitute in the slums of Bombay.
And cast in the role of Shantaram will be the infamous pirate, Johnny
Depp himself. He'll be in India for shooting and judging by the fanfare
and chaos Brangelina created, Depp will be in the middle of a media
storm too. Other than Depp, the film will have some Indian faces in
its line-up. "I am going to come here (Bombay) soon and we are
going to start the casting. It's a vast cast and it's an amazing banquet.
In terms of actors I am going to work with some leading actors as
well as some unknown ones as I always do," Mira announced. The

based director also confirmed that Munnabhai MBBS's English remake
Gangster MD is very much in the pipeline to be produced by 20th Century
Fox and her own banner Mirabai Films. But now with an original Shantaram
in her scheme of things she won't be directing the remake. |

Heroes
is the next Lost |
|
Remember
how three years ago, J.J. Abrams's Lost took the television world
by storm? Well, there is a new Lost on the block and it's called
Heroes. A show that spreads over the entire world, from India to
Las Vegas to Japan, it tells the story of different individuals,
all blessed with unique powers. The interesting part is these people
will take the human race to the next level. But it's not X-Men or
Smallville. What sets Heroes apart is its ability to shift from
story to story and its brilliance lies in the way every single character
is built up. The powers they have are often believable. If you thought
Lost was exciting, Heroes is an absolute must see. The thriller
quotient is pulsating and Heroes is addictive. This is the first
show NBC network has produced in over five years that opened to
a 14.3 million viewer- ship. Critics are calling it the Lost for
2007
