From the editor

Hi guys,

We have finally realized that after all these years, 'Us' has not succeeded in changing the attitude of the youth, and so we have decided to call it quits! Surprised aren't you? Yes, this is the most common approach to life, of not only the youth but of many adults as well, especially in our country. Of course we are not giving up, but what Naeema Akram wants the readers of Us to understand is the fact that a considerable number of youth in our country is becoming depressed. Pessimism has taken control of minds and it results in hopelessness. There is, perhaps, no need to mention how rapidly the suicide rate has gone up!

What causes us to become such pessimists? What is the solution? The answers to all these questions and other interesting arguments make up a wonderful cover story this week. We have, of late, become quite concerned about the morbid stories that are being sent to Us in droves. C'mon, folks, shrug off the blues! Life is too short to be wasted.

This week, Bilal Tanweer gives you an account of the early Mughal emperors, their eccentricities and foibles in his inimitable way. This is part 1 of the 3 articles in which Bilal will be briefly anatomizing the lighter side of the Mughal history. Do not be alarmed, for it's not a page out of your Pakistan Studies textbook!

Rehanuddin, in the 'speak out' section, provides a lot of food for thought. Read his article and tell Us what you think; it's a must read, and you just cannot afford to miss this one!

Formula 1 fanatics are in for a surprise, too, as Mahvesh Adil unveils to our readers the newest Ferrari recruit, the iceman himself, Kimi Räikkönen.

So what are you guys waiting for? Flip the page and start reading!

Till next week,

Allah Hafiz

Reflection

Allah's Apostle (PBUH) said, "There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a charitable gift for him."
