‘Aati kya Khandala’
Ghulam

‘Aati Kya Khandala’ is almost legendary and is one of those songs even the older lovelorn wouldn’t mind singing for the one they love. It has a catchy beat and the perfect words proposing good times. Yes, there is no Khandala in Pakistan, but really - it makes sure your girl knows that if she picks you, she’s in for fun. ‘Ghoomein ge, phiren ge, nachein ge, gayen ge, aish karen ge,” - what better way to lay it all out for her!

‘Chalti Hai Kya Nau Se Baara’
Judwaa

This is the song of choice for movie buffs. Luckily, we now have great cinemas which are perfect for a first date. You can totally play this song and let your girl listen to it. Silver pants in the tradition of Salman Khan optional.  This song has an earthy feel which has the ability to naturally win over anyone’s heart, and while it might be known as a cheap song, it also conveys that you have a sense of humour. Good luck winning over the burger types with this one though.

‘Kisi Disco Mein Jaye’
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan

Now this song might have a lot of repetitive lines, and no doubt it is an old song made popular by the fact that the late ‘90s saw a lot of obvious lyrics and lowbrow music. It might get annoying to an extent, but still it will work out if what you want is to go dancing with your beloved. When picking this song to convey your emotions, make sure you understand that there are people with lots of different tastes in this world so you never know who likes what. Keep your options open and use them wisely.

‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge’
Mujhse Dosti Karoge

Taking it easy or step by step is a good idea, and in matters of the heart, starting with friendship and then taking it from there, even safer. This song says it as it is - the girl is turning down the guy but he is making all efforts to win her in the way of friendship. And as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai taught us well, we know friendship leads to love so why not try giving it a shot through this song and see if the tough girls prefer this way. To the ladies: we know you like playing hard to get, but how about cutting us some slack before we get dejected and back off forever?

‘Tujhe Aksa Beach Ghuma Du’
God Tussi Great Ho

This song comes with villains also. The best thing about Bollywood songs are that they are pretty inoffensive as a norm. The song is all about a spin to the beach, and as usual the girl is answering in the negative, while the hero and villains are pulling each other’s leg. Catchy lyrics which totally fit in a scenario where two villains are fighting over a girl and the girl needs to make a decision. Best for guys with a known enemy contesting for the affections of their crush.

So choose the song that suits you best and cross your fingers. But most of all, remember, this is not life and death - it’s just Valentine’s Day, so have fun!
