Bachchans
boycott Shahrukh Khan
|
| |
| The
man stepping into Amitabh Bachchan's shoes for a new season of Kaun
Banega Crorepati has also become a pebble in the Bachchan clan's shoes.
Yes, the man is Shahrukh Khan, who has presumable irked the Bachchans
beyond redemption. The situation has been pulling along for some time,
going through issues of SRK being a threat for Abhishek, for Bachchans
exerting pressure on Yash Chopra to never cast him again and recently
when Shahrukh refused a role in Ravi Chopra's upcoming Bhootnath where
he was offered a cameo opposite Amitabh, the lead. It came into the
spotlight when the entire strength of Bollywood invited to Shahrukh
Khan's New Year bash turned up except for Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek,

| Aishwarya.
Shahrukh wasn't surprised, commenting that it would have been bigger
news had they actually come. We can sense that he sure is going to
have fun on KBC, especially as the first promo aired on December 29
has been getting great reactions. Shahrukh is bringing casual fun
and humour to the program, elements it lacked around Amitabh Bachchan.
So call your cable operators and make sure you catch KBC regularly
and be sure you don't miss the episode when Big B is invited to be
on the hot seat. We'll see who gives and takes the heat!

| Bhansali
to direct French opera |
| |
|
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's fondness for theatrics have finally won him
international acclaim as it has been confirmed that he has been invited
to direct an opera at the prestigious French opera house Theatre du
Chatelet. He will be adapting an old French literary classic of the
early twentieth century to stage and will be in Paris in the first
three months of 2008 for the production. "It's an honour. I think
my operatic mode of storytelling in Devdas convinced the Theatre du
Chatelet to approach me. Frankly, I was flattered but unsure whether
I wanted to do it. After all, a staged opera is an entirely different
discipline from cinema. I'm glad I've agreed to do it." Bhansali
may be nervous but at the same time glad that he has agreed because

will elevate him to the ranks of Woody Allen and Hong Kong's Yimou
Zhang of The House of Flying Daggers who have also been approached
by the opera house to direct an opera each. It's interesting also,
to note how Europeans are branching out their culture worldwide, bringing
America, China and India into their highly revered and exclusive opera
houses. Times definitely are changing towards global homogeneity.

Cage helps Shekhar Kapur create comics |
| |
|
The best way to spread a culture is through literature and India understands
that very well. Oscar nominated Indian director Shekhar Kapur, who
shot to fame for directing Elizabeth, is now cashing in on that popularity.
He has managed to involve celebrities like Nicholas Cage, Guy Ritchie
and musical band Duran Duran in helping him take out a comic book
series based on Indian mythology. Richard Branson's Virgin Comics
– of which Kapur is a co-founder – will publish the comics
that are aimed to appeal to Indian and international audiences. It
is reported that Cage had created the character of a "sadhu"

Indian sage while Ritchie was working on a story. John Woo, director
of hits including Face Off and Mission Impossible II, is also writing
one of the stories, the newspaper said. The books will be released
in Indian this year. |

| Cameron
Diaz, Justin Timberlake call it off |
| |
|
Justin Timberlake has a thing for older women.
He swiftly moved on Alyssa Milano to Janet Jackson and his final
stop was Cameron Diaz. Since 2003, the actress and the former N'Sync
singer had been together. In the past few months, rumours about
a wedding were also doing circles of the industry. But now it seems
that it's all over. Sources claim
that Justin spent Christmas with family at home in Tennessee while
Cameron was in Colorado with friends. Some claim that Justin has
gone on record and said, "Cameron and me, we're done."
So far, no comments have been received from Cameron.
On the other hand, it is Scarlett Johansson and Justin "hanging
out" at clubs and movie premieres although

official have been said by either party. We think it's completely
alright. Cameron can do a lot better and as for Justin, he knows just
how to move around in the right circles, flanked by the right women! |

| O.C
drops out |
| |
| O.C,
the hit teenage soap opera that enjoyed immense popularity in Pakistan
as well as 50 other countries worldwide, has been cancelled. Its final
episode will be aired on February 22 on Fox TV. The finale "will
deliver real closure to the series, to the story we began telling
four years ago," series creator Josh Schwartz said in a statement.
"It will be fun and emotional and I think really satisfying.
It is the finale we always planned to do." The cancellation came
after continuous low-ratings that followed the death of Merissa Cooper
(Mischa Barton), the most popular character in the drama. It was reported
that viewers dropped from ten to under four million per week. Even
as many are disappointed with the cancellation, it |
 |
|
seems like an appropriate
move. After all, O.C showed that everything that can go wrong does
to Merissa and consequently all characters attached to her. But hey,
one can still catch teenage mess-ups on One Tree Hill, which according
to the grapevine, is one of the few shows that actually got picked
up for another season. So here's a farewell to the dramatic lives
of teenagers in Orange County.
