Hotstepper of the week
JAL
|
| |
After
2004's debut Aadat, which established Jal, as one of the hottest new
acts in town, the trio of Goher, Farhan and Shazi is back.
With a spanking new video, 'Sajni', a whole new wardrobe and a sharp
sophomore record, Jal have made all the right moves.
'Sajni' is undoubtedly one of the catchiest songs on the album, Boondh,
and teaming up with Bilal Lashari to direct the video, was simply
a stroke of genius. Always criticized for not paying enough attentions
to videos, Jal changed their image around and silenced skeptics and
critics with the beautiful video that is 'Sajni'.
They spent a year in recording and Mekaal Hasan has produced this
album and as a result, Boondh is a coherent and mature record.
It is only unfortunate that with so much political chaos surrounding
the country, Jal have been unable
|
 |
| to
perform in Pakistan but hopefully with the new year here, things will
soon pick up and once that happens, Jal will be back in the spotlight.
So here's to this young band, after a hiatus of three years and so
many expectations on their shoulders, Jal have managed to impress
us all. And for that, they are Instep's hotsteppers of the week. |
