Hotstepper
of the week
Shah Mehmood Qureshi
Foreign Minister of Pakistan
|
| |
Post
elections, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been a
busy man, as its been, to put it mildly, a turbulent year for
Pakistan.
From defending Pakistan from critics at home and abroad in the
face of increasing violence, terrorism and then the Mumbai attack,
Shah Mehmood Qureshi has managed to survive this year without
having his portfolio changed and without having to retract any
statements.
Despite being the gadda nasheen of a Pir in Multan, Shah Mehmood
Qureshi manages to look quite dashing in his well-fitted suits
and his sedate ties. While he may be all talk and no action,
the English language rolls off his tongue without any visible
faux pax. In a time when politics seems to rely more on well-worded
statements and diplomacy, Shah Mehmood Qureshi manages to remain
on top of his game. |

|
| He
even managed to keep his cool when being made the centre of every
Indian anchorperson's focus when the Mumbai attacks took place and
he was present in the country. And if one believes a local fortnightly's
gossip section, he's even being tipped as the replacement for the
current Prime Minister. So, for managing to look suave and not making
any embarrassing or bumbling statements, Shah Mehmood Qureshi is our
Hotstepper of the Week! |
