Summer
: Time
Chilling Zone
By Meena

It's summer time. Each day
the sun comes down spreading its beams, waking you up so
you can set out for work (talking about those unlucky people who are done
with their studies and are working – no more summer vacations. Sigh!). A
fine morning with a cup of chocolate drink and the morning paper in hand is a
good start for the day. As soon as morning turns to midday, the bliss of a
sunny day turns into your worst nightmare. With the end of the chocolate
drink, the idea of going to work in the sweltering heat makes one sick and
the dramatic starting of the joyful day results in a real roller-coaster
ride. A minute out in the scorching sun over your already simmered head is no
less than a double treat.
The 40 degree temperature
of a usual day in summer makes one lethargic, uncomfortable
and unwell. The repercussions could be serious such as nervous breakdown,
heatstroke, sun burn or sudden fainting. Therefore, it is highly essential to
take special care in summers and to follow all the precautionary measures. If
you are unaware as what to do in summer in order to stay healthy and fresh,
follow the described points below and feel the magic of change in your life,
from the blistering days to cool and comfy times.
Indoor exercise
For a healthy body and mind
and for a good start to the day, physical exercise is highly recommended. It
is important to keep in mind that these exercises must not be carried during
the working hours of the day. Do not exercise where there is direct exposure
to the sun, as it can lead to sun burn and heat stroke. Prefer cool and shady
places, giving indoors the highest priority to work out.
Summer attire
What to wear in summer,
specifically this morning? Let's see! A skin-tight denim blue pair of jeans
with a black dandy top would make you stand out in the office. Dark shades
for summer clothing? Poof! Bad idea, let's revamp the wardrobe. A pair of
baggy pants with white
loose yet chic kurti is an excellent idea. Try to avoid body hugging clothes
in summer and go for light colours. Dark coloured attires absorb heat and
will make one feel hotter, thus must be avoided until summer gets over.
Sun-screen protection
Since your enraged enemy,
the sun is ready to attack you as soon as you step-out, make sure to wear
sun- block over the body parts that are directly exposed to the sun. Do not
leave the house before applying it all over.
Shield protection
In summers, it is suggested
tthat you cover the sensitive parts of your body i.e. neck and scalp before
going out-door. If you wish to stay charged through out the day, perform
proper ablution which is especially designed to cut down the body
temperature. As a preventive measure, one must wear a cap, hat or any
head-wear that covers your head completely as well as your neck. A
nice-printed umbrella could be an edge to your timely fashion.
Carry water
Struggling too hard with
the sun? What could be a better option than water to rejuvenate
you during your deadly fight with the sun? Smart people always carry
water-bottle with them. Even if your workplace has a filter fitted for
employees, do not forget the time consuming traffic jams under the scorching
sun. Plenty of liquid intake should be a part of your hectic day. Therefore,
do not leave your home without the highest rated and most in demand product
of summer, the water.
'No' to caffeine filled
beverages
All work and no play makes
Jack a dull boy. No play? Why not? Has he taken beverages before his physical
exercise? Hmmm… better keep him at work since the intake of any beverage
containing caffeine before exercise can increase the rate of dehydration in
the body. Therefore, do not take any caffeine containing drink before you
plan to conduct a physical workout. So, Jackie boy, better luck next time!
Veggie treat
A good meal with a mixed
fruit or veggie salad works like an additional incentive or a bonus
in your salary. Whenever a platter of colourful veggies comes your way, do
not hesitate to hunt the veggie for your… face. Don't tease your brains at
this point. The tall, smart and flashy fruit
cum veggie, cucumber, prevents sun burn and tanned skin. Cucumber is the
perfect treat for summer skin. It reduces that heat-induced greasy feeling,
soothes itchiness, tightens pores, reduces eye puffiness, and gives a radiant
look to your skin. Cucumber contains low calories and high fiber, and is full
of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It contains Vitamin C that helps to
cut down the effect of the sun-burn and helps to reduce the tanning of your
gorgeous and spotless skin.
Intake of light meals
Light, loose dressing,
light coloured attires, light make-up, light liquid intakes…what else light
is left to consume? Certainly, the intake of a light meal. To have a cool
personality on a hot day, light meals through out the course of the day are
strongly advisable. A heavy meal will make you inactive and lethargic and
might result in a strong scold from the boss. So, if you aspire to continue
good relations with the boss then go for
light meals during the days.
Bye, bye soggy clothing
Are you smarter than a
fifth grader? If the reply is positive then prove it by changing your
attire when it becomes too soggy for you to bear any further. Smart people
never carry on with the similar attire which has been worn through the ups
and downs of the day. Try changing your clothing at least twice a day in
summers since the stinking clothes cause much uneasiness, which the fifth
grader hardly cares for.
Scented you
A funny sunny day, good
mood of the boss, a new dress to show-off and lesser work load are all the
symptoms of good luck. A sudden plan to meet good old chums is like a full
stop in a written statement giving it a completion. At the meeting point on
catching a glimpse of you, all the chums run down to hug you hard but they
suddenly stop on reaching near you. Solve the mystery… Somewhere, something
is giving out a deep rotting smell. What is it and where is it? Oopss…it's
you, badly rotting under your dress with the stream of sweat pouring down
your body. Personality conscious people always carry a deo in their hand
carry to avoid such embarrassment. It's actually a do or die situation,
meaning that either you make yourself scented before meeting your pals or let
them die with the foul-smelling perspiration emanating from you.
Follow these tips to have a
cool summer with a chill personality and get your pals immensely impressed by
you. Say bye bye to tedious
sizzling days and enjoy your summer by staying cool and standing out amongst
your buddies.
