Shahrukh,
Hrithik in trouble for jokes!
|
|
Koffee
with Karan is perhaps the most watched celebrity talk show in India.
With Karan Johar's strong ties in Bollywood, the director always pulls
out one ace episode after another. The most interesting part of his
show has always been the rapid fire round where celebs often pick
one actor/actress over other and make catty comments. The humour,
however, is lost on Bollywood. Recently, Hrithik Roshan appeared on
the show and when asked, which Khan would he go for, Aamir or Salman,
he said there wasn't much of a choice since both were of the same
height. While Hrithik maintains that he meant it as a funny comment
and in no way was disrespecting his peers, Bollywood seems to think
otherwise. According to reports, the more conservative side of Bollywood
felt that Hrithik was taking shots at the two actors. Karan Johar
rushed to the actor's defense and has stated, "Surely even a
perfectionist like Hrithik is allowed to have fun on my show. And
the remark on Aamir and Salman was certainly not meant to offend.
I'm amazed at how seriously we take ourselves in the industry."
Add this to the fact that the Samajwadi Party - of which Amar Singh
is the leader - has started protests against Shahrukh Khan and are
demanding an apology from him for his comments at the Filmfare Awards.
Some of the members have gathered outside Shahrukh's house, Mannat
and are shouting slogans and have also said that if he doesn't apologize,
a mass movement will be led against him in the streets. SRK did apologize
after the Filmfare Awards but that is not enough for the party. India,
where is the humour? |

Sanjay
Dutt turns to writing |
|
Almost all big actors
in Bollywood are venturing out into other domains of filmmaking.
Sanjay Dutt is no exception. Already a producer, he has now turned
to writing a screenplay, namely for Kaante 2. The first flick was
a nice rip-off of Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. While the
story was inspired, Kaante was shot very well and set a benchmark
for films to come. Now, Sanjay Gupta, director and producer is working
with Sanjay on the idea for Kaante 2. According to grapevine, this
film will show the characters stuck in a different situation. Amitabh
Bachchan has been approached for the film. Other actors include
Sanju Baba himself, Fardeen Khan, Arjun Rampal and Suniel Shetty.
The last two Dutt-Gupta ventures (Zinda and Musafir) didn't do well
at the box office but Kaante 2 just might do the trick. Meanwhile,
Dutt's lawyers have urged the court to release him on probation
for his good behaviour during bail and according to a law in India,
certain convicts can be given probation. It remains to be seen if
Dutt will walk, free of conviction. For now, keep your fingers crossed.
This verdict can swing either way.

Grey's
Anatomy is not going anywhere |
|
Grey's
Anatomy is doing very well in the television world. It's the top show
in America right now and even here, DVDs are selling like hot cakes.
Now, it's been revealed that the show will go on for another four
years. What's more, almost all cast members have received a salary
bump. The lead star Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey will now
get 200, 000 dollars per episode. The only star who has not received
a raise is Isiah Washington for his homophobic slurs. But the good
news is that he is being kept on and is not being kicked out, at least
for the full third season. On the other hand Kate Walsh who plays
Dr. Addison Montgomery Shepherd and was brought in at the end of the
first season has been signed on for a new contract. Moreover, there
is a spin-off series now in the works with Kate Walsh in the central
role. In the other spin off, Kate Walsh will only stay if the show
gets good ratings. According to a clause in her contract, if the show
doesn't do well, she will return to Grey's Anatomy. So here's to another
4 years more of interns, medicine and affairs! |
