FASHION UPDATE
Go lawn hopping! |
| |
| Ladies,
it's that time of the year again. Mausummery has kicked off the lawn
exhibitions that will take the textile world by storm in the next
few weeks. Whether you want light, floral pastels at Mausummery or
bolder designs by Rizwan Beyg, whether you plan making a bee-line
for V9, or whether you are a Yahsir Waheed diehard fan, it's lawn
galore for all of you. The more regular collections come in with Al
Karam, Gul Ahmed and Mohammad Farooq textiles and the designer collections
come in, hand in hand. This year, even Islamabad based designer Sobia
Nazir is kicking off her very own collection of lawn prints. So watch
out for them too. The trick to buying lawn is buying yourself a decent
selection from everywhere. Hogging on just one designer may make your
summer wardrobe a tad bit monotonous. As each and every textile designer
brings something different to the show, best thing to do is mix and
match. That way you will retain your originality and you will be able
to improvise fabrics with your own creativity. If you stick to the
three piece format, there's a good chance you'll bump into several
other women wearing exactly the same. Another note of advice: do not
try to embellish or embroider heavy prints. You'll end up looking
like an Amazonian rain forest. Instead, dress up the simpler prints,
textured fabrics or even better, the plain blocks. The summer is young
and you need to unearth the fashionista in you to glow for the next
few hot months! Are you hot enough to handle that? |

| Skinnies
might be the in thing, but lets face it the summers in our country
are too warm for body hugging clothes. While you shouldn't completely
get rid of the the skinnies you own, give them a little rest and go
for a slight flare. This is the most universally flattering style
in jeansville. Not too loose, not too tight. the ideal jeans for local
summer that is on its way. They're cut relatively slender through
hip, thigh and knee, then open up just enough at the ankle to accommodate
a boot, not that they are required. And because this style is so everywhere
and truly wearable, you can bag a few in the latest finishes and treatments
from local stores and not worry that they'll drop off fashion's radar
next week. The trends include a cleaner overall design, with less
whiskering, fraying, embellishment and embroidery than we've seen
in years past. Uniform rinses, in inky dark hues or soft and natural
blue shades, are seen everywhere. Back-end detail is also calming
down. Fashionistas are beginning to avoid designer swirls for a more
plain-pocket design. Like they say, it's all in the jeans! |
