FASHION UPDATE
High waisted elegance |
| |
The
end of the hipster's hip is a fact. The waistline is now overtly raised
to at least where God intended the waist to be, but in most cases,
considerably higher! Thus, pencil skirts and pleated skirts, wide-legged
pants and slim pants, jodhpurs and shorts, all come in the new shape,
while even dresses feature seams or are pinched above the natural
waistline.
Obi-style belts serve to emphasize the look. For many women, this
is one of their all-time favorite styles, harking back to the epitome
of American culture – the 1950s. Also, like wearing a corset,
having the waistband up around your natural waist gives a woman a
certain kind of confidence that you can't fake.
The higher the waist, the higher the style seems to be the order of
the day!
Keep in mind that pants and skirts of the high-waisted variety should
not be worn by all people. They are not nearly as forgiving as say,
a high-waisted pencil skirt or a simple boot-cut. This look really
only works on people who aren't too short and don't t suffer from
a cursed belly issue.
Pair it up with flats or ballet shoes or if the break is a touch long,
they would look gorgeous with a pair of platform pumps. If you are
not above average height, definitely go for the latter. This look
is all about length and height.

Designers
all over the world are leaving no doubt that spring has sprung. Oversized,
colorful, eye-popping designs are this springs staple. Fall's sophisticated
palette and understated elegance give way to some much needed season-defining
extroversion.
Bold patterns abound – from blocky optic abstracts to tribal-inspired
designs to classic textiles – all punched up this season with
exuberantly saturated shades. Favorites this season in our part of
the world are the floral prints. They're the most blatantly beautiful
of the bunch and easiest to wear.
A loud blouse over quiet khakis, or a vibrant print wrap tunic set
off by subdued accessories, will score style points without blinding
your audience.
