Love One Another

By Khalil Gibran

Love one another, but make not a bond of love.

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Fill each other's cup, but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread, but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone.

Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.

For only the hand of life can contain your hearts.

And stand together, yet not too near together.

For the pillars of the temple stand apart.

And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

Confused

By Wardah Farhat

Swarming memories

Swirling thoughts,

Crowded feelings

Hopes drift apart.

Wishes rise and fall

As ragged breaths,

Miseries come and go

In a whimsical way.

Blurred thinking,

Veiled decisions,

Guilt, Anger,

Rages false?

The Real Creator,

please stand up

By Manal Farrukh Khan

Shaping my eyes

Spindly aligned

With an arched crown

Visibly proud,

He signs

In his distinctive style

Symmetry with sight

Mischievously smiles

Challenging science to rival

Provoking art to rebel

Mould or soul

They bring forth

But never both

Peerless, he stands

Undefeated, he flaunts

Ever wondered why

You willingly bow down?

But while submissive hearts pray

A rebellious voice

From somewhere far

Travels

Penetrates

Sight yours

Vision mine

With conventional organs

Contemporary usage,

I acquired

Anatomically similar

Are all human beings

But within ourselves

Distinct individually

Who created us

Our real identities

A smirk

Being blessed

With an essence

Manifested as spirit

Having it sculptured

By my handpicked environment

You shamelessly tread a path

Predestined

Sugar coated

With self proclaimed,

Self-made decisions

And you are what

You say

A creator

My equivalent?

Churning lazy philosophies, these days

Are all, trend-following atheists

No different

Blood Fabric

By Azwer Auzzi Asif

On the misty branch

sat those eyes

the lonely eyes

the watchful eyes

as I take the last lustful sip

of the cauldron brew

of moaning pride

the hateful chill

of my burnt bride

The sun to my zenith

the cold clay beneath me

the ice dew chilling my bones

till the stars I begin to see

when that time comes

for natures wings

to spread my soul

upon the clouds

and rain it down

to this sinister drain

of the banshee nuns

of the satanic child

and the heart of my bride

to relinquish once again

till that time

the watchful eyes

stare with patience

as I drink the last drop of the ivy brew

And night to me will belong

and the heart of my dame

will cast the shadow of the forgotten storm

the sea serpents will rise above

and engulf them, the blood slain of the village

and the eyes will cry for me

Enigma and Confusion

By Namra Khalil

Clouds and rain,

Sunlight, warmth and light,

Joy and sorrow,

Tears and smile,

You are melted and I am frozen,

Enigma and Confusion
