The
Peerzada family
The success and the idea behind the International Mystic Music Sufi
Festival is a commendable one, which is why Instep has chosen the
Peerzada family as this week's Hotsteppers.
Over the last seven years, the festival has changed the landscape
of Pakistani performing arts. Creating such a huge platform for local
artistic talent to hone their skills and share their work with others
was a job well done by the Peerzada family who took it upon themselves
to promote and project local talent and to integrate them into a wider
spectrum by bringing together with a vast group of artists from around
the globe.
This year, in collaboration with Telenor Pakistan, the Rafi Peer Theatre
Workshop brought the festival to Multan, the city of saints and shrines
and also toured with extensions of the show to Islamabad, Karachi
and Lahore which started from April 22 and Ended on Aprill 30.
This year saw fabulous performers from Algeria, Spain, Morocco, Egypt,
Iran, India, Syria, Afghanistan coming together with sufi and classical
singers from Pakistan to create fantastical nights of mystic music.
The festival is a place where we have aesthetically and spiritually
enriched ourselves over the past few years and has helped enormously
in putting Pakistan on the map. Hats off to Faizaan Peerzada, Saadaan
Peerzada, Usman Peerzada, Imraan Peerzada, Salmaan Peerzada, Tasneem
Peerzada and Alena Peerzada for taking on this feat and executing
it so marvelously. |
