Flash FASHION UPDATE
Never mind the It bag or the must-have sh

Costume jewelleryoe. Accessory obsession now centers on the need-it-now bauble. More and more houses - Bottega Veneta and Burberry, to name just two - are entering the jewelry arena. And they're not doing so quietly: Chunky statement pieces are the trend and it is about time you start pairing your favourite piece of clothing with an eccentrically galactic piece of jewllery.

Fall was a gem of a season for necklaces in particular. The moods were many: delightfully Deco at Lanvin, strung with crosses and amulets at Givenchy. Still, bracelets can't be ignored; Marc Jacobs' nodded to Scandinavian modern, while medieval wrist wrappers doubled as spiked weapons at Burberry Prorsum.

Not that we condone violence, but that's one way to get your money's worth. So get out there and pimp up your wrists and necks.

Metallic belts

It's funny how quickly we can become bored with our seasonal wardrobes. By now, we're ready to throw our 12 black turtlenecks and six beaded brooches out the window. If you're with us, put the pedal to the metal, because spring and summer accessories are already hitting the stores, and metallics are going to be huge, hot, hip, happening and any other cool word that begins with the letter H.

Talk about wrapping yourself up in fashion! Metallic belts add the perfect punch to any outfit any day of the week. Thick or thin, studded or stamped, belts can be worn with any number of outfits. Denim is the obvious choice, but don't overlook the chic style of a wide metallic belt loosely fastened around a cute dress or skirt. They are also the perfect accent to white pants - which is a good thing, because in case you haven't heard, "white is the new black."
