Weddings are in the air and the country is abuzz with colourful mehndis and dholkis. This is the time when even those people who don't really listen to Indian music, have to get familiar with the latest beats. Instep takes a look at what some of our designers are listening to and which tunes they will be bopping to this shaadi season.

"I like all the new songs. 'Desi Girl' is one example, though I'm not an Indian song buff. I like all the latest catchy tunes. I danced to 'Kajra Re' at a friend's wedding, though I don't dance too well! All the new Indian tunes are not typical shaadi tunes to begin with, but these days choreographers can make you dance on absolutely anything."

Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan sang 'Kajra Re'. With lyrics by Gulzar, the song was featured on the soundtrack of Bunty aur Babli. Aishwarya Rai featured in the song in a guest appearance role. And while this song isn't really a wedding song, it is definitely a memorable dance number.

"I like 'Desi Girl'. It's a good song."

Deepak Perwani was in the middle of a deep slumber during this conversation and who can blame him for not saying much then! 'Desi Girl', a hit number from Karan Johar's Dostana, is a catchy tune and a favourite among most people. Months after its release, the track constantly plays on the radio and television and is a must dance number at all weddings.

"I love 'Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye'. It's an Indian Punjabi song from the film. There's another one I really like from Luck By Chance. It's called 'Baawre'. And I also love 'Chak Glassy'. I haven't done shaadi dances since my friend got married and I can't do shaadi dances anymore, unless it's a friend's wedding."

'Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye' is the title song of OLLO. It's a typical Punjabi upbeat tune while 'Baawre', written by Javed Akhtar, is a fast number that was shot brilliantly in a circus like setting, featuring Hrithik Roshan - undoubtedly one of the best dancers in Bollywood. 'Chak Glassy' is a Punjabi track by Amir Khan, who has a certain style of his own, unlike many Punjabi songs that sound somewhat the same.
