This
is prêt we can believe in - and buy. Instep's hotsteppers
of the week, Feeha Jamshed and Adil Moosajee, deserve standing ovations
for making fashion affordable. Feeha, who has taken over as creative
head at the iconic Pakistani label Teejays, recently launched her
second line for the brand at Teejays' outlets and it is a sight
to behold: racks and racks of affordable, stylish and incredibly
trendy clothing that doesn't threaten to leave one in fits of depression
after a look at the state of your bank account. Whether its this
season's hottest harem pants or jumpsuits, or long, flowy kurtas,
Teejays truly has designs on you. And with affordable price tags
(retailing between 2000 – 3000 rupees), Feeha is ensuring
that fashion doesn't remain restricted to a niche market but actually
does cater to the market she designs for: the masses, which has
been Teejays mainstay from its conception. It is designers like
her who have the potential to make it big, because their designs
won't be lost in the stream of high-end clothes being produced by
every designer in the country.
Adil Moosajee, also our hotstepper of the week, brings in his knowledge
of the textile industry (the Moosajee family runs the iconic menswear
stores) into Ego, the streetwear label that has singer duo Zeb and
Haniya as their celebrity face. With a constant influx of new designs
at affordable prices and must-have deals (who can resist a 'buy
two-get one free' offer?), shopping at the store boosts your fashion
ego without denting your bank balance.
