Hotsteppers
of the week
The Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop
|
| |
| The
Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop has always made us proud as Pakistanis.
They are renowned for putting Pakistani theatre and puppetry on the
world map. Moreover, they have created a unique platform to bring
Pakistani and international theatre, music and puppetry together through
the World Performing Arts festival. And for the past twenty-five years,
the iconic Peerzada family has been organizing this event - even this
year, with the economic and security conditions of the country in
doldrums. |

| .But
as the true lovers of art that they are: they went ahead with the
festival, not even cancelling the closing ceremony when three bomb
blasts took place near the venue a day before the festival was to
end. They have proven that come what may, the show must go on and
that spirit is not only incredibly laudable, it is much needed. With
events being cancelled left, right and centre because of the threat
that something may happen, the RPTW decided that they must continue
on with what they have started. And supporting them in this spirit
were the artists and attendees of the event; who showed up in full
force to support the Peerzadas as they went ahead with giving a befitting
finale to the silver jubilee of the World Performing Arts festival.
For proving that it is possible to hold a magnum opus event like the
Festival, and upholding that spirit even when things look tough -
the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop are our hotsteppers of the week! |
