Dear Ed,

The issue of October 23, 2009 was mind blowing. I really liked 'Graffiti'. The cover story was very interesting, too. This Children's Film Festival is a nice way to invoke the interest of young people in our declining film industry. I think they can change the scene and can do something really good for the industry in the future.

Talking about the young generation, I also want to talk about the student of Karachi University who threw his shoe at an American scholar. I also belong to Karachi University and I personally believe that this act was against our social and cultural values. This is not the right way to express one's self. That American scholar had come as a guest in our university and it was our responsibility to give him respect. I believe that the person should feel sorry for his highly ill mannered act and we all, as students, should condemn it instead of appreciating him.

Yo Eddy,

Since I am a new writer, I would like to say very little and would just praise your rocking mag. Firstly, the article by Saad Javed (October 23, 2009) was very touching. I was really saddened by the new of Harris' death. I used to read his poetry and it was very impressive. Such a good poet has passed away! May his soul rest in peace, amen.

My favourite section of Us is 'Trust Us'. I really appreciate the advice Guru gives to people who need his help. In my opinion, Guru is doing his job in the best possible way he can. Hats off to you, Guru! God willing, I will write to you again soon. Kindly tell me the email address of 'Trust Us' section as I would really like taking advice from Guru.

Pay the poets!

AoA Ed,

I would like to appreciate your work. Other than that I want to ask why you don't pay for the contributions to the 'Poets' Corner'. Poets have the same talent as other writers, but they just mould it into the poetic form. Even a small amount, as a token of appreciation for their work, will suffice. You can also pay them according to the word count. Please don't neglect the poets. I hope you will take the matter into consideration.

Only for kids!

Dear Editor,

I would like to bring to the notice of the concerned authority that kids are being ignored by the cinema management in Karachi nowadays. Last year, we enjoyed watching movies like Taray Zameen Par, Spiderman 3, Ramchand Pakistani and many other movies at cinema houses. Although we all have DVDs and other stuff to watch the same at home, watching in a cinema has always been a source of enjoyment.

I would, therefore, request the concerned authority to pinpoint this matter to cinema management/owners. They should consider kids when they select films and at least one film per month should be there at the big screen for kids only.

Yey dil mangey MORE!

Hi,

I have been appreciating you in the past for your great efforts, but now as a reader I want something extraordinary. I have been reading your previous issues and found them good but not great. So Ed, do something. You are the captain of the ship. Also I request you to stop printing 'The Green Room' as it generates no interest. I would also say that editorial should be included every week. And Ed, why don't you encourage budding writers?

Lastly, I would like to make a request. I expect that in this serious situation that as a nation we all are facing, your mag shouldn't publish any disappointing thoughts. Please try to encourage the youth as it is the need of time!

Ayesha Sheikh

Hi Ed,

First of all thanks for making me laugh so much on the morning of October 2, 2009. The cover story 'Reading is believing' by Waqas Hassan Sharif, was based on great political observation. Ed, I have a request. Kindly do add date on every page of your mag and since there is so much space on every page, I'm sure you can do that easily. I say so because if the stapler pin is removed from the mag, it becomes difficult to work out the pages belong to which week's issue.

Hassan Askari
