Hotstepper of the week
Overload
|
| |
 |
| |
| Where
uniqueness is concerned, Overload truly takes the cake. Ring leader
Farhad Humayun with his talented troupe, makes local culture look
hot! Initially comprising of Pappu Saeen, Jhura Saeen along with Farhad
himself, Sheraz and Hassan, Overload's band line-up, along with its
sound, this year takes a different turn in the preparation of their
much-awaited, second album. Along with other traditional, classical
musicians, Overload's line-up consists of Farhad Humayun, Sheraz Siddiq,
Atif Aslam's ex-guitarist Mahmood Rahman, Syed Shaharyar Jabbar and
the fabulous model/actress Misha Shafi - who lends her vocal talent
in a few of the album's tracks. And interestingly, Misha doesn't only
just sing, but she also writes her own lyrics too. How about that!
Will Overload's second album match up to its predecessor, one would
simply have to wait and see - but judging by the storm that was raked
up in the country's local music scene, especially after the release
of Overload's music videos, it's bound to be just as good. |

Especially considering the fact that the album will comprise of
songs with lyrics - and that too sung by a model, should be pretty
interesting. So why is Overload this week's Hotstepper? The answer's
simple: they package Pakistani culture well. |
