The end of the hipster's hip is a fact. The waistline is now overtly
raised to at least where God intended the waist to be, but in most
cases, considerably higher! Thus, pencil skirts and pleated skirts,
white-legged pants and slim pants, jodhpurs and shorts, all come in
the new shape, while even dresses feature seams or are pinched above
the natural waistline. Empire line waists and Obi-style belts serve
to emphasize the look. For many women, this is one of their all-time
favorite styles, harking back to the epitome of American culture -
the 1950s. Also, like wearing a corset, having the waistband up around
your natural waist gives a woman a certain kind of confidence that
you can't fake. The
higher the waist, the higher the style seems to be the order of the
day!

Metallorgy
And the rave goes on. For anything shiny, anything polished, anything
sparkling. Metal mesh and chain-mail, gold-encrusted lace and disc-worked
fabrics, a plethora of laminated textures and Fifties-inspired lame,
heavy stiff brocades and fluid lustrous satins, all are there to infuse
glamour and sophistication to daywear looks. And it doesn't matter
if it's blinding or tarnished, golden, bronze or silver, anything
from the metal palette is simply hot. |
