What's the big deal?
Dear Ed,
The issue of October 16 did not
appeal to me. As it is, we have to study all the time
and education is one thing at least I wish to forget
when I need to relax. No doubt the Ivy League thing was
informative, but it took a lot of precious space. It did
not deserve four pages. Then there was Ms Sharif
complaining about the fees schedule of A level
schools. Get real, girl! They need money to survive and
the fact that people are paying tuition fees at more
than one institutions shows that they have money. It's
their money and they have a right to spend it the way
they want. If your parents cannot afford the colleges
you mentioned, bad luck! But there are many other A
level institutions. So what's the big deal, anyway?
To top it all there was a write up on
debates. It looked as if the writer was trying to get
her tuition fees waived off! Please make entertainment a
part of our mag every week. We like glamour, fashion and
gossip. Give it to Us or else!!!!

Not fair!
Hey Ed,
It's been a long time since I last
mailed you. You deserve this because your mag is not
doing so well. All the cool sections have been
eliminated. That's not fair. Anyway, I hope to see my
letter in
print.

Out of this world
Hey,
Before writing to Us this time, I
made a pact with myself that whatever opinions I put
forward this time will come truly from my heart. The
magazine of October 16, 2009 was out of this world and
defied the standard that it normally maintains. The
information about the Ivy League universities was very
interesting and helpful. Guru gave some excellent
suggestions! Every single page maintained its own
uniqueness in a way that offered healthy reading.
Congratulations to Us on this issue. Hope it maintains
the same standard always. Good luck.

Query
Salam Ed,
Last weekend went extremely boring
because I didn't get my Us mag. Eddy, the reason for
writing to Us is that I want to know the conditions
required to be fulfilled in order to contribute for
'Poets' Corner'. I want to contribute for this section
to prove my talent.
Your mag really rocks, but do
increase the number of pages!
Imama Ibrar, Muzaffarabad
We only require original and good
contributions!
Well done Humza!
Heya Ed,
This is with regards to Humza Asad's
article on 'The Pakistani boys' classification movement'
in the issue of October 16. I should say that it was
really an interesting article. The writer is a male
himself and still he criticised his gender in a funny
manner. It was simply remarkable! Keep up the good work,
Humza! The cover story 'The Ancient Eight' by Batool
Abid was a good effort. However, most of Us don't know
the reality of these universities. We should keep in
mind that everything that glitters is not gold. I
suggest that all the readers should do proper research
in this regard.

Time to unite
AoA Ed,
The GHQ incident was very saddening.
I was recovering from the shock of the huge bomb blast
in Peshawar followed by the incident in Shangla, when
this incident happened. So many precious lives were lost
in just 10 days! What was their crime? Those people were
innocent; most of them were children, women and the
elderly! If these terrorists are fighting jihad then
don't they know that even in jihad our Prophet (PBUH)
forbade killing of women, children and the elderly?
These people are just misusing Islam's name and it is
very shameful to know that some people in our society
still support them! Wake up people! Wake up! It's about
time we all stop being Sindhis, Punjabis, Pathans,
Balochi and Muhajirs and unite to become people of
Pakistan! We should put our differences aside and unite
to save Pakistan!

Made me proud
AoA Ed,
I fully rejoiced on the return of
such a good edition of Us (October 9) after such a long
time. Ali Suleman made me really happy and proud with
his work. I would like to say that not only have we
degraded our own flag, but those few who do have some
respect for it don't know how to show it. Take the
Champions Trophy, for example. There was a very huge
flag but the crescent on it was on the opposite side of
where it was supposed to be. Anyhow, I also enjoyed
'Freedom At Last' by Mahra Butt. It was a good and
moving story. Of course, Nabeel Naqvi helped me enough
to make-up for my unseen matches. Overall, it was a
brilliant edition and I hope that the mag continues
to come up with such nice issues.
