'Sensible shoes,
ones that will lead me back to you
Sensible shoes, cuz you're the only lover who was ever true
I need some sensible shoes…'
David
Lee Roth immortalized the desperate need for sensible shoes back
in the nineties when he sang the hit song 'Sensible Shoes' to retrieve
his lost love. And while men's shoes still remain sensible in comparison,
women's shoes have emerged with s stronger character of their own.
Call this the revenge of the ugly black boot, inflicted upon women
in the eighteenth century! Call it the brainchild of a feminist
movement. But shoes today are no longer about being sensible. Anything
but!
The relationship people have had with their shoes is symbolic, it's
historic and now with shoes getting stranger by the minute, it just
got futuristic. Shoes are not merely footgear; they are the new
windows into the soul. And with fashionable shades getting bigger
and darker, keeping eyes heavily curtained, that's a good thing!
So be careful of what you put on your feet if you're fashion conscious
to the extent of bearing pain to get the right look. Shoes on the
runways this season have immense character. They aren't always practical
– but the most iconic fashion rarely is practical. Today's
shoes aren't mean for getting you to work; they're about grabbing
attention and how!
Think walking on miniature Eiffel Towers and you'll get the drift.
Clasp buckles around your ankles and you'll get the feel. They are
even making shoes without heels these days! But the key word is
to elevate. These shoes are meant for the woman of today. And that's
a woman who will not fall for anything less.
As Nancy Sinatra aptly sang back in the sixties,
"These boots were made for walking
And that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna
Walk all over you!"
