Colour Coordinated
WHO Isaac Mizrahi
WHAT Grades of one colour
A colour, even on its own fluid form, is always enough to make a
fashion statement. Of course we all know that since time immemorial
'black’ has been reigning supreme as the 'it’ colour.
Hence we have the ever faithful LBD (little black dress). However
this season, go open your box of Crayolas or a Dulex paint chart
and go wild with a colour of your choice and in a childhood recall,
dress head to toe in that hue. Sounds amateurish? Even though colour
blocking is still in vogue, it won’t hurt to go all out and
bathe and swathe yourself in a colour flattering to your complexion
and personality. Take a cue from the international Fall looks this
season and go bold with a Fanta orange like Isaac Mizrahi does. To
avoid looking like a third grader, work within the same shades of
a colour and pair different separates of varied textures like Mizrahi
does with these printed tights and a chequered top. Might I add your
accessories can NOT be identical. Go for basic gold, brass or nude
shoes, bags and jewellery, and you would have perfected the colour
coordinated look with charm.
Who says Pakistani designers are behind their foreign counterparts?
At the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week earlier in the year, Iman Ahmed,
Sara Shahid and Yasir Bashir Qureishi all chose to work with a
strong solid colour pallete.
Colors of the rainbow
Iman Ahmed of Body Focus chose to retain the black is beautiful
concept and structured garments that will be timeless for their
elegant appeal.
Sara Shahid
pushed her creative boundaries and surprised us all by going
all out for audacious colours. Here she went royal on purple
and created a flirty yet stylish ensemble with a ruffled top
and short harem capris.
In His aptly
titled 'Holi Un-holy’ collection, Yasir Bashir
Qureishi showed his strength as a designer and as a craftsman by
using pure linen fabric in a single colour to display his skill.
Salvatore Ferragamo creates
a classic fall look with shades
of autumn and brown replete
with matching boots, scarf and
cap.
Zac Posen shows the strength of scarlet in all rouge flirtatious
yet sophisticated short dress.
