Tagline: Sometimes BEING ALIEN is the only option!

Bollywood movies are watched all around the world and expectations from them increase movie to movie. People are usually fascinated by the aspects unique to a certain film by the previews, making them want to watch it. Joker's trailers had everyone excited to watch it, but when they actually did watch the movie itself, viewers were greatly disappointed. Previously in Bollywood, Rakesh Roshan tackled aliens as a plot point in Koi…Mil Gaya, and the film was a success. Shirish Kunder's directorial debut, Joker, sadly failed to meet that benchmark set by the Hrithik Roshan starrer.

Joker was expected to be a hit because of Akshay Kumar, but the truth of the film's quality really just people's hearts. Joker was supposed to be a comedy and it was, some of the jokes were nice and the actors even acted well. So what was it that makes the film such a failure? I will have to blame the story, which was horrendous.  It made viewers feel as if they are perhaps not grown-ups or even young adults: Joker has the capability to make you feel like an absolute toddler. The movie starts off well and has the ability to, at least in the beginning, make you go with the flow. Sonakshi Sinha is the only female among an all-male cast. She did manage to act well and get into the skin of her character, but there's only so much you can do with a tepid, awful storyline.

Akshay Kumar is the male lead, with the whole story revolving around him. While watching the movie it made one wonder why he even did such a lame movie? His previous hits Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore were so much better than this insult to both cinema and cinema-goers. Akshay didn't even become a part of promotions for Joker; it might be because he was prepared for its failure and was trying to distance himself from the project. Initially Joker was planned to be in 3D, but thankfully was not, or it would have people crying over wasting so much money over something so utterly useless. The only reason the shows have run to packed houses is because of Akshay Kumar's star power and enormous fan following.

If the main aim of Joker was to be a film that would leave an impression upon people, it fulfilled it - we, the audience either wanted to run out of the theatre to escape from this lemon, or at least chuck things at the screen.  No doubt there have been many failures in Bollywood, but most films have some positives which make them bearable. The soundtrack of the movie is not catchy either, the only song  that is an attraction of sorts is 'Kafirana', an item song by Chitrangda Singh.  The song had some minor controversy, and lyrics had to be changed up a bit, but that's the only bang in this home to whimpers.

The first half of the movie was tolerable, but post-Intermission it became suicide inducing. Kunder had previously directed Jaan-E-Mann, but that was not this bad. This movie crosses all records of badness, and not in a good way.

As for the cast: Akshay is his usual self, Sonakshi is wasted in a filler role,  Sreyas has a similar role to Tusshar Kapoor's in the Golmaal franchise, Manissha Lamba was hardly seen and the rest were just present to fill the gaps under the dust of failure. Bottom line, in case you're a glass half full type: Don't watch Joker!
