Was India justified in pulling out of the Sharjah cricket tournament thus setting off a dark future for the game of cricket in the subcontinent?

  1. If you guys want to discuss anything serious stop asking instructive and insinuating questions. The choice of your topic shows that you have come already to the conclusion that it is due to India that the sub-continental cricket has a dark future.

First give us a few justifications as to why India should play you at all in any place in the world. War and game cannot go hand in hand.

Next, I think more than playing cricket, what you guys have in mind is defeating India at any cost so as to paint it as a victory for Islam etc.

Lastly, is Sharjah a place worth going? Betting, scandals, underworld dons and goons is all they have to offer. It needs to be avoided at all cost.

  2. Yes, India is very much justified in not wanting to play against Pakistan in any cricket tournaments anywhere. It hurts Pakistan the most only in cricket and so cricket it shall be. Poking with a sharp stick and playing don’t go hand in hand. The world of cricket and Asian cricket has nothing to lose if Pakistan and India don’t play cricket against each other.

If you cannot live like neighbours they why play a game? There is no joy. First learn to live like a neighbor not seeing everything that India does with a jaundiced eye. Your greed for Kashmir is what has made your relationship so sour, and you are itching for a war. Cricket is the last thing that we should be playing. You like to play war games, from 1947 onwards. Let us continue that. Forget cricket for a few more decades, if you still keep on going like this.

  3. The Indian government seems to be confused and perhaps they think that this is the only way to divert their nation’s attention form local problems, by harping on something concerning Pakistan. Let me tell you, the actual motive is to rest on their laurels of beating the Australians, which would not last long once they face Pakistan.

It is a very silly act on the part of the Indian rulers and is not justified even if to hide their weaknesses behind a sport when their Opposition also has rejected the same!

  4. No, it’s not a justified move at all. I thought that the Indians were a civilized and educated nation, and would keep cricket away from politics. The Indian cricket control board seems to be helpless in the hands of BJP fanatics. It’s sad to know that even cricket lovers in India are silent on this matter.

  5. Definitely the Indian government’s action of pulling out its cricket team from the Sharjah Cricket Tournament is not justified. India is playing politics and wants to globalize its open hatred towards Pakistan because of the latter’s support for the Kashmiri cause. It is a very clear signal for Pakistan to understand she should not make it a matter of prestige. Let India act childish, as this will expose her own duplicity to the world at large.

As it is, Indian cricket is in a shambles due to internal politics and corruption. Let them continue to stew in their own poisonous juice.

  6. From a cricket lover’s perspective, it’s a sad development that cricket fans from all over the world won't be able to see and enjoy the action between the two teams from the sub-continent.

People should not forget that when traditional or political ties between the two countries are not very good, it makes little sense participating in an event that depicts friendship. The ICC has distanced itself from this controversy as it falls outside the purview of its regulations. In fact, it is the organizers who should raise the objection, as they will lose, financially, if India pulls out.

Pakistan should not make a hue and cry about this. Instead, it should go and play with other teams. Threatening to boycott future matches isn't the right course of action.
