Your
Opinion
- Well done President Pervez Musharraf. We are all proud of you. You were
absolutely superb when you spoke to the Indian press over breakfast. You
have proven yourself to be a world class statesman. No one has ever
advocated Pakistan's case better than you did.
Mrs. Shaheen Maqsood Kayani
Karachi
- Every Indian and Pakistani should view the Agra summit as a good
beginning. One must understand that the 54-year old misunderstanding cannot
be solved in a day or two. The absence of a 'joint-declaration' should not
be construed as a failure of the summit. Several such summits are further
required to trust each other and build confidence. Only then, it is possible
to find out the solutions.
Somraj
India
- The Agra summit, in my opinion, was a good try at kick-starting a
dialogue. At least the two sides are speaking with each other, once again.
However, I think it will be very difficult for New Delhi to compromise on
Kashmir.
Raj Chotrani
Singapore
- In my opinion, successful negotiations lead to a win-win solution only
through a give and take.
Kishan Bhatia
USA
- I salute the courage of Mr. Vajpayee and Mr. Musharraf for having taken
the steps to bring peace between Pakistan and India, since bullets are not
answer to any problem. For, bullets create more problems than they solve. It
is high time we had peace in the region.
Dr. Shamim A. Hassan
Saudi Arabia
- All said and done, the negotiation process is going as per plan. It will
soften up in Sept 2001, and will get some shape in Oct 2001. The Year 2002
will see it in some final shape.

Lahore, Pakistan
- I followed the summit very closely. President Musharraf has acted
according to the wishes of the people. He did not act like a typical
politician who says something in the meeting and something different to the
people. He has explained his viewpoint very clearly to the Indian leaders as
well as to the Indian people. May God bless Pakistan!
Shaukat Chauhan
New York, USA
- I personally think that Mr. Musharraf handled himself in the best possible
manner.
Ahmer Muzammil
USA
- Musharraf very courageously stood by his words that he endeavored to seek
at the talks in New Delhi.
Umar Khan Dawar
Canada
- General Musharraf had presented Pakistan’s point of view very
courageously without any outcome but I feel that the core issue of Kashmir
will not be solved on table.
Mohammad Manzar Husain
USA
- President Musharraf has no doubt proved better handler of Indian
trickster. Well done General!
S A Choudhary
London
- The summit should be viewed as a good start and not as a victory of one
over the another. Mehboob Siddiqui
Frankfurt, Germany
- I am confident that only the present government is in a position to solve
this 54-year old dispute (Inshallah).
Syed Zahid Bukhari
Saudi Arabia
- President Pervez Musharraf’s performance in India was at par excellence.
Aslam Hayat
Canada
- All in all, the president played well.
Mohammad Jawad Alam
Pakistan
- Will never get India and Pakistan closer unless good relations are
established first, and violence is reduced from both sides.
