The recent UN Security Council resolution on terrorism, envisages the closing down of offices and freezing of assets of such organisations allegedly involved in terrorist activities. Here the question arises as how to differentiate between freedom movement organisations and terrorist ones. What are your views on this pertinent issue?

Your Opinion

  1. I think we should identify it as:
Terrorist: Any individual, organization, government agency or a country which is directly or indirectly responsible for killing civilians should be declared as ‘Terrorist’ and the ICJ (International Court of Justice) should decide about it.

    Freedom Fighter:
Any organization, government agency or a country which is involved in the struggle for freedom in such a way that no civilian is killed should be considered as ‘Freedom Fighters’.

  2. If innocent women and children are killed, then it is an act of terrorism. Whereas, targeting the army can be called freedom movement.

  3. Terrorism targets innocent civilians unlike freedom struggle.

  4. It is indeed very difficult to separate freedom movement from terrorist groups but anyone who is found involved in killing innocent civilians should be brought to justice.

  5. A freedom movement organization does not target innocent, non-military, non-political people unlike terrorist activities.

  6. It is a tricky topic and must be handled very carefully with equal participation of all UN member countries.
