Katy Perry was overwhelmed with emotions while wrapping the final season of The American Idol on Sunday as she announced her exist from the singing competition earlier this year.
The Roar singer was seen sobbing as she hugged co-judges Lional Richie and Luke Bryan while the season finale winner Abi Carter was performing Bilie Eilish’s Barbie OST What Was I Made For?.
Perry, who has been serving as the The American Idol judge since 2018, which revived on ABC news the same year, after successfully running for 15 seasons on Fox announced her exit earlier this year on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
“I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol,” Perry confirmed at that time.
She added, “I mean I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you what I’m saying Jimmy?”
The winner of the season 7 of The American Idol Abi Carter was competing against Will Moseley and Jack Blocker, who secured the second and third positions, respectively.
Meanwhile, in order to pay a sweet tribute to Katy Perry as she is bidding farewell to the reality show the ladies of the top 12 performed a medley of singer’ hit tracks, including California Gurls, Teenage Dream, and Dark Horse.
The Harleys in Hawaii songstress also performed What Makes a Woman with the contestant Jack Blocker.
Katy Perry also paid a sweet homage to all the participants of The American Idol, who appeared in all the seven seasons since 2018.
She wore an extremely long customized skirt, which was designed with the photos of the contestants on it.
The skirt was designed with long wooden sticks to carry the weight of the fabric.
