Former Mets general manager, Omar Minaya’s wife, Rachel Minaya, was found dead in their New Jersey home on Saturday, July 20.

According to New York Post, the cause of death is still unknown; however, as per the person briefed by the Minaya family, suicide has been ruled out as the reason for the death.

A Yankees executive was not home at the time of his 55-year-old wife’s death.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office announced Rachel’s death on Monday, July 21. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said that they received a call from the Harrington Park Police Department on Saturday afternoon reporting about an unconscious and unresponsive female found in the bathroom of a private residence.

The police transported Rachel to Hackensack Meridian Health Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood via ambulance, where she was pronounced dead, reported North Jersey.com.

Moreover, Rachel and Omar are the parents of two adult sons, Justin and Teddy.

As per the 2007 Sports Illustrated profile, Omer met Rachel at a Manhattan hair salon in 1989, and a year later they got engaged during a trip to Italy.
