Shocking details behind Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh's assassination revealed that a bomb was planted in the guest house in Iran’s capital, Tehran, months before.

According to a New York Times report, seven Middle Eastern officials, including two Iranians, and an American official disclosed that an explosive device was secretly smuggled into the Tehran guesthouse two months before Haniyeh’s assassination.

The guesthouse Neshat in the neighborhood of northern Tehran is run and protected by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. The blast happened when it was confirmed that he was in his room. Haniyeh’s bodyguard was also killed in the attack.

As per the five Middle Eastern officials, the bomb exploded automatically.

Hamas head was in Tehran to attend the inauguration of the new Iranian president. He was killed a day after the event on Wednesday, July 31.

Iranian and Hamas officials said that Israel was responsible for the killing of Haniyeh, whereas Israel has not publicly taken responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, the five Middle Eastern countries claimed that Israeli intelligence officials briefed the US and other Western governments about the details of the operation right after the attack.

To note, the US was concerned about receiving any advance knowledge about the assassination plot on Wednesday.

Additionally, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Israel, saying, “You killed our dear guest in our house and now have paved the way for your harsh punishment.”
