Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah will reportedly initiate dialogue with the International Cricket Council and Pakistan over the Champions Trophy 2025 row.
As per ARY News reports, Shah will most likely meet ICC officials in Dubai and have a telephone conversation with the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to break the deadlock.
This came after India refused to send its cricket team to Pakistan for the ICC mega event in 2025, and Pakistan dismissed the option of a “hybrid” structure and insisted on hosting the entire Champions Trophy in the country.
PCB Appoints Chief Operating Officer For CT 2025
PCB on Thursday, November 21, 2024, appointed Sumair Ahmad Syed as the chief operating officer of the Champions Trophy.
Naqvi stated, “Sumair is an exceptionally organised professional with a wealth of administrative expertise. Coupled with his unwavering passion for cricket, I am confident he will deliver an unforgettable ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for players, officials, and fans alike.”
“The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 promises to showcase Pakistan's ability to host world-class cricketing events, welcoming players and fans from around the globe to experience the country's passion for the game and renowned hospitality." Syed said, “Preparations are already well underway, with stadium upgrades nearing completion and crucial discussions ongoing with the International Cricket Council,” he further added.
It is worth noting that uncertainty regarding the organisation of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to India and Pakistan’s stance over neutral venues is continuously causing a delay in the schedule announcement.
