Chad Gilbert has passed away.
On Sunday, September 20, the Dressed to Kill singer’s wife, Lisa Cimorelli, took to Instagram to announce his death, sharing that he died in the morning at the age of 45 in an emotional statement.
She penned, “On the morning of September 20th, Chad Everett Gilbert passed away peacefully in his sleep. He left this world surrounded by friends and family and took his final breaths with his wife and mother by his side, just as he wished. We are devastated and shocked by how quickly he left us, yet so grateful for how peacefully and smoothly he went.”
Lisa shared that the large number of visitors who gathered in the hospital lobby at a moment’s notice reflected how deeply loved and cherished Chad was and would always remain.
“He was a legendary musician, but his favorite accomplishment was being a husband and father. His biggest dreams came true. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, his daughter, Lily, his mother, Jackie, and his brother, Brian,” she added to the statement.
The late singer’s wife went on to express that his guitar skills, songwriting, humor, and dedication helped shape New Found Glory for nearly 30 years, inspiring the band to grow as musicians, performers, and people.
“While we are devastated to lose him, we are so grateful for the incredible life he lived, the memories we shared, and the brotherhood we had. His influence will always be part of New Found Glory and his spirit will be felt on every stage we stand on, with every note we play,” Lisa penned.
She concluded, “Rest in peace, Chad. We love you forever. Lisa, Jordan, Ian, Cyrus, and Dan.”

Chad Gilbert was an American guitarist, record producer and songwriter, and also one of the founding members of the punk rock band New Found Glory.
He was also the vocalist for the hardcore punk bank Shai Hulud.
Chad Gilbert health battle and cause of death
In December 2021, Chad Gilbert was diagnosed with a pheochromocytoma – a rare, benign tumor that develops in the center of an adrenal gland – after being found unresponsive at home. The tumor was removed during an emergency surgery.
After a few months in August 2022, the singer announced that his cancer had returned as a spinal tumor, which then spread further into his lungs and back in February 2023, requiring him to undergo intensive chemotherapy and radiation.
In April 2026, Chad’s medical team shared that his diagnosis to stage 4 adrenocortical carcinoma.
