Gypsy Rose Blanchard has become one of the most popular true-crime figures across the US following years of medical abuse by her own mother.

Who is Gypsy Rose Blanchard?
The 35-year-old was raised by her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, who portrayed her daughter as seriously ill and subjected her to multiple medical treatments.
The case was later linked to Munchausen syndrome by proxy, now commonly known as factitious disorder imposed on another.
In 2015, Dee Dee was found dead in the family’s Missouri home. Gypsy had secretly arranged the killing with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.
Later on, Gypsy was pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in jail, while Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder and received life without parole.
What happened to Gypsy Rose after jail?
In December 2023, Gypsy finally got released from jail after spending over eight years. Initially, she tied the knot with Ryan Scott Anderson, whom she had met through correspondence while incarcerated; however, the couple filed for divorce in 2024.
Who was Ken Urker?
Gypsy later reunited with former fiancé Ken Urker. The pair first became connected while she was in prison and eventually rekindled their relationship in 2024. They welcomed their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, in December 2024.
How did Gypsy's husband die?
Urker was found unresponsive at a home in Raceland, Louisiana, on October 1, 2026, on the occasion of his 34th birthday. Gypsy has said she believes he overdosed but does not know what substance he may have taken or whether the overdose was intentional.
Currently, the case is being investigated.
Gypsy has described Urker as a devoted father and requested for some privacy as their family mourns his sudden death.
