As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gear up to make their first joint appearance in the UK since their return, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Prince William have also teamed up for their own joint outing.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, October 12, royal reporter Rebecca English revealed that the British monarch and Queen, along with the Prince of Wales, are set to make a major joint appearance to mark the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster.

The Aberfan disaster was the catastrophic collapse of a coal waste tip on October 21, 1966, in Aberfan, a small village in South Wales.

Regarded as the worst mining-related disaster in British history, the devastating event resulted in 144 deaths, including 116 children.

“The King, Queen Camilla and the Prince of Wales are coming together for a rare joint public engagement to mark the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster, which claimed the lives of 116 schoolchildren and 28 adults,” shared Rebecca.

She revealed that Charles, Camilla, and William will travel to Aberfan next week, on October 21, to pay their respects to the victims of the disaster.

“There will be a particularly poignant moment for King Charles, who has asked to meet a schoolboy pictured with his late father, Prince Philip, the day after the tragedy. Gareth Jones was just six when the Duke of Edinburgh visited the village,” she penned in the caption.

Rebecca English further noted, “A haunting black and white photograph of the day shows the clearly shellshocked young boy – who was saved after he was pulled out of a classroom window by a school caretaker, who tragically lost two of his own sons in the accident - meeting the Queen’s husband.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s joint appearance

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly set to make their first joint appearance in the UK since their return.

According to Hello!, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who returned to the UK in late August, are preparing to make a high-profile appearance in Nottingham this week on Thursday, October 15.

The parents of two are expected to pay visit to CRS Nottingham, where they are reportedly scheduled to participate in an acting workshop.

They will then join the women of the Grenfell Hubb Community Kitchen at a local food bank.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s packed day also reportedly includes a meeting with Epic Partners, an organization that backs young people through sport.
