Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar revealed that federal agents seized 17 personal items during a pre-dawn raid on her Washington, D.C., residence.
Speaking out for the first time since the search, Omar claimed the operation was purely theatrical and specifically intended to “freak” her out and intimidate her politically.
Items confiscated during hours-long raid
Up to 25 Department of Homeland Security agents searched the Minnesota representative’s home for roughly five hours. According to Omar, authorities confiscated cellphones, personal notebooks, a vintage camera, and a Somali language children’s book.
Agents reportedly arrived around 6:00 AM, pounding on her front door to execute the search warrant.
Denials and accusations of political retaliation
Omar strongly denied long-standing, unproven allegations of immigration fraud that sparked the ongoing investigation.
She asserted that the raid was orchestrated to satisfy political opponents and appease Donald Trump, who has frequently targeted her with calls for prosecution or deportation.
Omar insisted she holds a legal right to serve in Congress and vowed that the intense pressure would not force her to step down or be silenced.
