In a major update, Anthropic officially announced a preview of Claude Duet, a personal artificial intelligence assistant, which is particularly designed in assisting small businesses and professionals manage daily tasks and workplace responsibilities.
The recently announced assistant possesses the capability to challenge OpenAI’s Dots and Meta’s Muse, as tech firms aim to outdo each other with the release of cutting-edge models working independently on users’ behalf.
According to Anthropic, Claude Duet can deliver daily briefings, monitor connected applications and complete tasks such as building dashboards, scheduling meetings and preparing financial forecasts.
“It comes to you with what needs your attention, completes tasks you ask of it, keeps working even when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf,” Anthropic stated in a blog post.
Claude Duet is majorly designed for workplace productivity instead of personal errands. Anthropic addressed that activities such as booking tickets are not among its strongest capabilities.
The launch comes as rival AI agents gain traction. In September, Meta unveiled Muse last month, positioning it as a personal AI assistant for consumers. OpenAI subsequently introduced Dots, a system of always-on agents, at its annual developer conference.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told analysts on Wednesday that over 10 million people in the United States and Canada had set up Muse personal agents over the previous six weeks.
Meanwhile, Anthropic said Claude Duet remains in an early development phase and may occasionally misunderstand conversations or incorrectly assess the urgency of tasks.
The company opened a waitlist for the service on Wednesday. Eligible users will be able to access Claude Duet via a standalone application or the Claude website.
During the preview period, access will be accessible to subscribers on Anthropic’s Pro and Max plans.
The announcement underscores the increasing competition among major technology companies to develop AI agents that can proactively manage work, coordinate applications and complete tasks with limited user intervention.
