Men who like noisy cars are psychopaths: Study
A new study revealed men who like loud cars score high on psychopathy and sadism scale

New research claimed that men who particularly like roaring and noisy cars are more likely to be psychopaths.

According to the New York Post, Julie Aitken Schermer from the Western University of London, Ontario, interviewed and administered personality tests to 529 young people, and a majority of men find noisy cars and muffler mods ‘cool.’

She told the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC), “Every day, we come across these loud cars and pickup trucks and motorcycles that are backfiring, and I get startled.”

Schermer, after conducting the study, found, “It was sadism and psychopathy predicting who wants to modify their mufflers, who feels more connected to their vehicle, and they think loud cars are really cool.”

She explained, “It seems to be this callous disregard for other people’s feelings and their reactions. That’s the psychopathy coming out, and it’s also they probably get a kick out of enjoying watching people get startled.”

Schermer further revealed that “The personality profile I found with loud mufflers are also the same personality profile of people who illegally commit arson.”

However, the car enthusiasts called the findings of this study a ‘stereotype.’

Bailey Trap, who is a car enthusiast and grew up in a family that loves big, loud cars, expressed, “This is a stereotype. It's a creative form. It's a way for somebody to stand out in a society that wants you to conform."

She added, "It may not be your taste, but it is something that says something about them."
