Tom Cruise daughter takes big step after estrangement from dad

Tom Cruise's daughter Suri has recently created abuzz by reportedly dropping her father's name from her identification.

As per Hello!, the Mission: Impossible actor's daughter whom he shares with Katie Holmes, Suri Noelle took her mother’s middle name as her last name.

Suri's, new name was disclosed in the playbill for a New York theatre performance of the Go-Go's jukebox musical Head Over Hills in which she performed.

However, the name change has not been made official, and it is uncertain whether she is using the name Suri Noelle in her personal life or if it is solely a stage name for her acting career.

The report came after Suri celebrated her 18th birthday last month, but Tom missed his daughter’s birthday as he was in London to attend Victoria Beckham’s star-studded birthday bash.

A source told Heat at that time, "Tom is feeling guilty about missing so much of her life, but insists that he hasn’t completely shut Suri out of his life, and does get updates from time to time."

They added that "made that deal to allow her and her mother to live their own lives because that was what Katie wanted."

But now that Suri is "officially an adult," the actor reportedly "feels she’s old enough to make her own choices, and he wants to reach out and build a better relationship with her."

To note, Suri and Tom were last seen in public together during a trip to Disney World in Florida in July 2012.
