Arjun
Saluja was by far the most interesting designer to show at Lakme this
year. With an eye on experimenting that is reminiscent of the Sabyasachi
of yore, his clothes were complex yet impeccably constructed. The
muted colours allow the silhouette to speak for itself and this was
varied. Instep predicts that Arjun Saluja is definitely one to watch
out for in the future. |

Sonam
Dubal, a relatively new designer from the former Himalayan kingdom
of Sikkim took inspiration from his roots and paying homage to all
the 'stans' (Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan) of Central Asia.
He came up with an ethnic silhouette: long, flowing coats, kaftans,
sherwanis were quintessentially Eastern yet without the fuss associated
with bridal wear in the sub-continent. He caught critic Hilary Alexander's
eye, because he was so true to where he comes from. |
