Sanam Agha is
the one who truly got Madonna and she loved it! She says: "It's
not everyday that one gets to be Madonna. One needs to look the
part for a good performance. The hair and make up and clothes were
absolutely fabulous and I got to keep the jeans. The dance routines
were taken from the videos and I got just one night to rehearse.
I had my head down when I came on stage, I couldn't see the crowd
and when I looked up they started hooting. It felt good. Someone
even asked me if I had bribed the audience for cheering for me.
Theatrical performances like these happen all around the world and
when I saw some in UK I used to wonder why stuff like this never
happened in our country. Dancing to Indian songs on ramp is one
thing and performing is another. It's a good direction that the
fashion industry is getting into. I'm especially thrilled because
I'm about to launch my fashion line."
The only Marilyn
who impressed after Tooba was Fia who feels that it is important
that different kinds of shows are done in Pakistan. "Being
Marilyn Monroe wasn't easy. She is a huge icon. Copying her was
difficult. I think it would have looked better if I had more time
to rehearse. Since I have taught Bollywood dances in Berlin, Germany
and I am acting and hosting shows, it wasn't all that bad and I
had fun. The concept of bringing in theatrical performances in fashion
is new here and but it is definitely a positive direction. This
has added a new dimension to modeling."
Annie looked
lovely as she danced to 'Lucky Star' but that sweetness doesn't
go too well with Madonna, who is ultimately all about attitude.
Even when the Material Girl smiles, it's a knowing look that goes
with it. Annie has too much of a twinkle in her eye, but hey, that's
just her!
Fayezah Ansari
got the attitude down pat when it came to doing Vogue in a power
suit. Where she missed out was in the dance department. Annie was
better there. However, both of them were fun to watch.
