1.
Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha
Why should this
couple make a return to the big screen? One word: Silsila. The film
that was almost eerily based on the real-life saga of Amitabh Bachchan
and Rekha, two of the biggest screen icons who dabbled in a much
publicized off-screen relationship, all while Amitabh was married
to Jaya. They are still fodder for tabloids and at award shows:
the minute Rekha or Amitabh appear on stage at an award show the
camera pans back to the other half - or to a fuming Jaya. To add
to it all, rumours are still rife that Amitabh and Rekha never ended
their relationship, which is why Rekha appears in public with vermilion
(sindoor) in her hair.
But whether it was Muqaddar Ka Sikandar or Silsila, the couple could
have burnt up the screen with their smouldering chemistry and good
looks. And even though Amitabh has never spoken about Rekha in public
- that has just added on to the mystique of it all! In an interview
with Filmfare, Rekha talked about Amitabh, quoting the following
verses by Gulzar:
"Humne
dekhi hai un aankhon ki mehekti khushbu,
Haath se chhoo ke aisay rishton ka ilzaam na do
Sirf ehsaas hai rooh se mehsoos karo,
Pyaar ko pyaar hi rehne do koi naam na do".
Do we even need to say anything more?
2. Rishi Kapoor and
Dimple Kapadia
There's a reason
Rishi Kapoor described Dimple as "one of the two women in his
life". The two Bollywood screen icons go a long, long way -
a baby faced Dimple Kapadia made her debut opposite Rishi (yet another
progeny of the uber talented Kapoor clan) in the much celebrated
film Bobby. The two - as young and green they were - were an absolute
hit in the film (even if Dimple's racy outfits had something to
do with its success) and 'hum tum aik kamre mai band hon aur chabi
kho jaye' is a song that is possibly only still memorable because
of the two.
Decades later, the two are as graceful and talented as ever, and
while they appeared in last year's Luck By Chance, it would be absolutely
fantastic if they could relive the Bobby fever again and rule supreme
over Bollywood by reappearing on screen together as a couple. We
bet it may embarrass their kids who have also dabbled or are currently
working in the film industry but really, we'd just like to have
our Rishi and Dimple now!

3.
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol
Shah Rukh romanced
Kajol for a devious purpose and waxed lyrical about her 'kaali kaali
aankhein' in Baazigar. They rolled in the hay in Karan Arjun. And
then they made everyone's heart skip a beat and want to book EuroRail
tickets right away in 1995's runaway hit Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
This is possibly one of Bollywood's best couples: a couple whose
on screen chemistry and comic timing is classic, whether its in
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum or a fleeting cameo
in Om Shanti Om.
They've been the subject of countless rumours and inspired a film
like Bachna Ae Haseeno. There's just something about the two that
makes hearts turn into a pile of mush. And we're supremely glad
they'll be reappearing again in a film: the much awaited, Karan
Johar-directed My Name is Khan!
4. Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit
They were
the it couple of the '90s and they caused a sensation when they
appeared together in Beta; most notably because of the song 'Dhak
Dhak' which took Bollywood style seduction to a whole new level.
They were funny and engaging and had great on-screen chemistry.
And now that they're older and prime for a Bollywood comeback: we'd
love to see them together again.
While Madhuri's comeback film Aaja Nachle may have failed, she looked
more gorgeous than ever, and Anil's riding high after the success
of Slumdog Millionaire. Can someone cast these two together (just
not Subhash Ghai!) and have everyone relive the magic of the '90s
again already?!
