FASHION UPDATE

Have a love affair with your hair this season

It's summer time- the time for us to slouch, droop and sink painfully as the heat takes over and brings us to a point where we just want to go either shave our heads ala Britney Spears or tie them up in messy buns. But don't sweat: you can go glamorous this season without having to spend an hour blow-drying or straightening your hair, which probably won't last as straightened hair tends to start looking messy minutes after you've stepped out.

For starters, romantic waves are back in fashion and this applies to those with long locks- use minute or medium sized hot rollers for the crimped look and apply a bit of hairspray on the ends and there you have it- the tresses won't be wearing off till you shampoo (and that doesn't mean you take a month to do so).
For those with scrawny faces and lofty cheekbones, try the razored pixie cut or the Rihanna look this season - chin length hair with long layers in the front and circular and short from the back. Though bob cuts look better with straight hair, they are versatile and one need not lose sleep worrying about how to maintain them - all you have to do is scrunch them up with water and mousse.

In the sizzling summer months, ponytails are always a classic and traditional pick. Use neutral coloured bands and heave half of your hair up in a ponytail, pulling out a substantial strand from the left side. Twist this strand with your fingers and wrap it around the band, pin it up from the back and apply hair serum to keep your hair from going haywire. Then there is the French updo; haul your hair up, twist and tuck the ends under the twist. Use pins to secure the style and no hair clutches please- French twists are timely and elegant and you need not ruin the look with a bulky clutch or coloured pins for that matter.
