Hats
off to the Ensemble ladies for pulling off a coup again! In
these trying times when Talibanisation is the buzz word for
Pakistan's future, events are few and far between and the
ones that are happening are kept low-key (read: they seem
to happen under a metaphorical shuttlecock), Zeba and Shehrnaz
Husain have kept the momentum up with the Ensemble shows.
Short, snappy and stylish like fashion rarely is in Pakistan,
they bring the best of the best together on the catwalk. What
has gotten the short end of the stick for the past two tumultuous
years is the grand Carnival De Couture. With India-Pakistan
ties badly damaged and the dismal security situation, the
extravaganza that brought together the giants of Pakistani
and Indian fashion came to a grinding halt. However, to make
up for that lack, Zeba and Shehrnaz have come up with an Ensemble
extravaganza to fill the gap. It won't feature Indians, but
it is being held to raise funds for the Teacher's Resource
Centre (TRC), which was always the beneficiary of the Carnival.
